i was late again and if i'm late one more time my boss is going to fire me and i really need this job. i rushed into the movie theatre seeing both hannah and clay concentrating on their tasks.

"there she is, late again" clay spoke looking up at me. "sorry about that" i mumbled placing my bag down and getting to work. "why are you always late?" hannah asked tossing the wet rag aside. "well if you must know we only have one car and i have to drop my mom off at work and pick her up but her shift ends right before mine" i explained "so i have to drive all the way to her work, drop her off at home and drive all the way here" i said going behind the counter and began to make more popcorn since we were running low. "why don't you just switch shifts" clay suggested.

the thought did cross my mind but if i did ask to work earlier then i wouldn't be working with clay and i really like him. i have for awhile now and it would kill me to not work with him anymore. "yea y/n it'll make it easier for both you and your mom" hannah chimed in agreeing with clay's suggestion. "i don't know i mean i rather the night shift anyways. it's busier which means more money for tips" i spoke making the two laugh. "good point" clay said going back to work.

hannah and i were cleaning one of the theatres since the movie had just ended. it was silent for awhile until hannah spoke up. "so tell me the real reason why you won't change shifts" "what are you talking about?" i asked. i really hope she doesn't think it's because of clay which i know is the reason but i'm pretty sure she likes him too. hannah stopped what she was doing and turned her attention towards me. "look y/n i know we've only just become friends but i see the way you look at him. it's clay isn't it?" i felt my cheeks become red and i turned to face her nodding slightly.

it's true, hannah and i just recently became friends since i started working here a week ago. i know we go to the same school but we don't have any classes together. "i knew it! aww you guys would be adorable!" she smiled and went back to work. "wait you're not mad?" i asked. i really thought she liked him. "no, why would i be mad?" "i thought you liked him" i said confused. she started laughing which only made me more confused. "no, clay and i are just friends" she said after she stopped laughing. i nodded at her as we both continued cleaning.

when the three of our shifts ended the three of us walked outside. "well see you both tomorrow" hannah smiled walking to her car and driving away. "so did you talk about switching shifts?" clay asked grabbing his helmet off his bike. "no i'm gonna stick to the one i have" i replied pulling out my car keys. "why? it'll make your life so much easier" "well i don't like easy. i bet i'm going to be on time tomorrow" i said with a smirk. clay smiled back at me and spoke "if you lose you have to go out with me" my smile grew "you're on" after we shook on it i got into my car and drove home. i was making sure i was late for work tomorrow.
