The Fallen (book 1)

chapter 5

I wake up in a black strange room. The windows are sealed shut and boarded up, there is nothing in the room except a table and a small fridge.

I look around more and Aaron is on the floor next to me but not Phoenix. I hope they aren't hurting him.

The door opens and the man that hit me walks in and sits a small platter of eggs and toast next to me and a cup of water.

"Who are you?"

"I came to save you. If you didn't leave then they would've killed you."

"You didn't have to knock me out."

"I didn't know if you would come or not."

"Where did you put my dog?"

"He's fine."

Aaron starts to moan and then he opens his eyes.

"What happened?", he says, a raspy sound to his voice.

Aaron looks around more and then his eyes land on the strange man.

"Who are you?"

"Listen I don't have time to answer questions all day. We have to go."

We head outside to the parking lot. Me and Aaron head to the red Mustang under a group of trees and the strange man heads to a black van across the parking lot.

"When we're ready we follow him.

When he stops I get out and see a park.

"What are we doing in a park."

"There is an old shed in the back of the park that has a secret passage."

We wait for the man to start leading us to the passage, but then I start to hear whispering.

"Does anyone here that?"

"Hear what?"

The man walks over and looks at me.

"You need to get to the passage fast."

He starts to runs. We follow him but then he's gone.

"Where did he go?", Aaron says.

"We have to find him." I run the way he when and Aaron starts to run behind me, but he ends up passing me very quickly.

I start to follow him, but I end up losing him too.

"Aaron!", I scream.

I walk a little further when I hear a faint scream.

I follow the same way the scream came from.

I find Aaron but not the man.

Aaron starts to moan.

"Jay, you have to save Luke."

"Who?"

"The man."

"But what about you?"

"I'm fine just find him, I'll catch up to you."

"Oh, ok."

"I have a question?"

"What?"

"Where do the good boys go to hide away?" (Sorry had Hide Away by Daya stuck in my head)

He laughs then smiles, then his eyes roll to the back of his head.

"Aaron? Aaron!"

I shake him, but he doesn't wake up.

Aaron!"

I run, and I don't stop till I find Luke leaning on a tree.

Luke, somethings wrong with Aaron."

I lead Luke to Aaron. When we get there Luke pulls out a needle.

"Whats that?"

"When we disappeared someone in a black hoodie poisoned us. I knocked him out and found the antidote."

He pulls the needle out of the protective plastic and sticks the needle in Aarons' arm. This time I was about to fall over.

"After a couple of minutes, Aaron jerks up and starts to breathe really fast."

He starts to calm down. Then he smiles.

"Whats so funny?"

"Right here."

"What?"

"I answered your question."

"Where do the good boys go to hide away," I whisper to myself. 

Aaron stands up, he walks over, he stares at me then leans in and kisses me.
