TENDER MOMENTS

The double doors to the E.R burst open as Chief. Swan and Lilith Greene run in, faces white with terror from the news of their daughters accident.
They spot Bella and Sam sitting on two gurneys, engaged in hushed conversation while the doctor checks Bellas vitals with a pen light.
A sorry looking Tyler sits on the gurney behind Bella with a mild head wound. Charlie rushes over to Bella, Lilith in tow, sending a glare towards Tyler as he passes.

"Bells are you alright?" Charlie asks panicked, coming to stand by the girls.

"I'm fine dad calm down." She mumbles.

Lilith sits by Sam, asking the same questions, "are you alright sweetie?", "You could have been killed!"

Sam rolls her eyes. "I'm fine mum. We're fine."

"I'm so sorry guys... I tried to stop." Tyler pops his head around to look apologetically at the girls.

"It's fine Tyler." Sam and Bella both say in union.

"It sure as hell is not fine." Charlie says sternly.
Lilith places a gentle hand on his shoulder in hopes to calm him down.
He gives her a soft look, before turning back to Tyler. "You can kiss your license goodbye."

"It really wasn't Tyler's fault Chief. Swan.
The parking lot was covered in black ice, it was an accident waiting to happen." Sam assures, trying to defuse the tension.

"Well you girls almost got killed-"

"But we didn't." Bella interrupts her dad.

Before anyone can say anything else Doctor. Carlisle Cullen walks gracefully into the room.
"I heard the Chiefs daughter was here." His voice was like silk, his movie-star good looks could make any girl drool. If Sam was a few years older...

"Doctor Cullen." Charlie greats.

Carlisle glances at the girls charts, giving the anxious parents a warm smile. "The girls will be fine, no sign of concussions, but they will be sore for a time."

"It would have been a lot worse if Edward hadn't been there." Bella said, looking to Dr. Cullen.

"Yeah, if Edward hadn't knocked us out of the way, Bella and I would be pancakes right now." Sam agreed.

"Edward? Your boy." Charlie directs to Carlisle.

Dr. Cullen avoids the gaze of Bella and Sam.
Sam notices he seems uncomfortable with the mention of his sons heroics, so she presses further.
"It was amazing, he got there so fast."

"He was no where near us." Bella finishes Sam's thought.

Carlisle give them a forced smile. "As long as you're both safe."
With that, he exchanges some words with Charlie and Lilith about the girls recovery and sends them down to check out.
