Apparently in Oklahoma, 'surprise' means 'dingy old country bar/night club.' Sherri and Ginger pulled up in Sherri's ironically red corvette. Apparently Ginger's truck was 'too beat up and gross for parties like this.' Whatever. Ginger thought it was acceptable. But, then again, she doesn't really get out much.

Ginger sighed as they started to get out of the car. Making sure to grab her handbag, she and Sherri started towards the building. As soon as she stepped into the doorway, her nose was attacked with the pungent smells of cigarettes, sweat, and alcohol.

"Um, Sherri, I don't really wanna... be here," Ginger's sentence trailed off as her cousin was nowhere to be seen. Sighing heavily, she made her way to a deserted corner, pulled a book out of her handbag, and began to read.

As Ginger read, a new group entered the building, whooping loudly.

"Hey man, I'm here for one thing and that's to pick up some broads, ya dig?" Slurred Two-Bit Matthews. The other boys in the group rolled their eyes and patted Two on the back.

"Sure pal," said Dallas Winston, "you'll get all the broads lookin' like the hobo that you are." With that, he sauntered off to the bar to get something to drink.
The rest of the boys, the ones from the gas station, went their separate ways.

Sodapop suddenly hit Steve in the ribs.

"Ow! What'd you do that for?" Steve asked angrily, rubbing the spot where Soda hit him. Soda nodded towards a girl quietly reading in a corner. "Isn't that the broad we helped today? Y'know, the one who's fix-up you paid for?"

"Yeah, that's her," Soda sighed dreamily. His eyes were fixed on her focused figure. Steve rolled his eyes and shoved Soda in her direction.

"C'mon pal, let's go talk to her." Soda panicked.

"What? No, what do I say? Do I look okay?" Soda started to nervously try and fix his already perfect hair.

"Really? The Sodapop Curtis is nervous? Man, that's gold. Why, just use one of your fancy pickup lines on her, man." Soda gulped and nodded, uncertain. Steeling himself, he walked over to Ginger, Steve trailing behind him.

Ginger heard someone walking towards her and looked up from the book she was reading. It was the two boys who helped her with her car earlier. She smiled broadly.

"Howdy boys," she drawled. "Fancy seein' you here." She noticed Soda looked Bert pale and was breathing a little hard. "You okay Sodapop? You look about as nervous as a turkey in November." Steve chuckled, then nudged Soda. He cleared his throat, gaining more confidence by the second

"Ahem, baby," Pausing, he took a deep breath. "I wanna live in your socks so I can be with you every step of the way," Sodapop attempted to woo Ginger.

"What? I'm pretty sure you would not like to live in my socks. It may not be my place to ask, but are you drunk?" Steve snorted and had to turn away. Soda turned red and tried again.

"I'm not drunk, I'm just intoxicated by you." Ginger frowned.

"Okay Soda, I don't know what you think you are doing, but it needs to not happen okay?" Ginger snickered, "Plus those pickup lines are so lame. Next time try; did the sun just come out or did you smile at me?" She smirked, "That's a sure fire way to get some broads. See ya boys." And with that Ginger put her book away and set off to find Sherri.

Soda and Steve looked at each other, appalled at the scene that had just happened before them.

Suddenly, Steve started cracking up again. "Man, you just got eaten up and spit back out. She rejected you so fast your head spun." Steve wiped tears from his eyes. "Whoo, wait till the boys get a load of this. Sodapop Curtis turned down by simple country girl. Although," Steve smirked at Soda, "she cleaned up pretty nicely tonight." Soda glared at his friend, kind of playfully, kinda not, and went to go find someone who won't make fun of his every move.

Ginger finally spotted Sherri in the dense crowd. Her cousin was leaning against the bar, drinking something that probably wasn't pop, and talking to a group of boys wearing very expensive looking clothes.

Sherri spotted her cousin and waved her over excitedly.

"Gingy! Thought I lost you!" Ginger smiled warily. "Anywho, these are my friends; Bob, Randy, and Stan." She gestured at each boy and they nodded at her respectively. Bob shook Ginger's hand.

"I'm Cherry's boyfriend, actually," he said, looking Ginger up and down. She smiled uncomfortably. Then, sensing she interrupted their conversation, she feigned a yawn and turned to Sherri.

"Hey Sher, I'm gonna head out, okay? I'll walk, I know the way back so I'll be okay." Sherri nodded and Ginger turned to the others, "Nice meetin' y'all." She said, even though it wasn't that nice at all. She nodded, made sure she had her possessions, and walked towards the door. She saw Soda and Steve talking to Dallas Winston by the door.

"See ya Sody," she said. "Try to work on those lines, 'kay? Have a nice night y'all." And she stepped out into the dark, cool night.
