Mary opened the door to the breakfast room where Lord Rose sat, reading the newspaper. Next to him, an empty chair, and across from him sat Andrew. You almost didn't recognize him. You froze, but Mary got you moving again. There was tension in the room, you could tell. Mary had also changed, making sure to please her father. She wore a dark green dress with black lace. Her black hair was curled and pinned into a bun, she also wore gloves. You didn't even think about gloves!!!! You sighed and Mary scoffed her throat. Lord Rose then moved his eyes from the daily paper and looked at Mary and then you.
"<y/n>?! Woah, Andrew... you picked a mighty fine young lady. Mary, I told you black is only for mourning."
"I am mourning actually, one of Uncle's friends passed on yesterday. So, I can wear black today father."
Mary said, objecting his accusation to her. Mary sat next to Andrew and I sat down across from Mary and next to Lord Rose. After a long period of silence, Mary broke the silence.
"It's strange seeing someone in Mother's chair. Right?"
You wanted to ask what happened, but you felt guilt of sitting in their mother's chair.
"I-I can move if you would like. I mean no such disrespect...."
You said as you were about to get up.
"No, it is auiet alright. Please, sit. Margaret shouldn't have brought up the subject."
"Don't call me that."
"I am your father! That is your name!"
"No, it isn't. That was mother's name! She will only be the true Lady Margaret Rose! I don't know why you named me after her!"
Mary snapped. You cowered and stayed quiet, staring into your tea cup. You and Andrew had already eaten, and you two stayed quiet.
"YOUNG LADY! You will respect me! I am your father."
"No! You aren't! A father is supposed to support his children! I wish mother were here instead of you!"
Mary yelled back him, holding her tea cup. Without a second thought, she threw the tea in her father's face. You naturally gasped when the hot tea landed on her father, some of it landing on your cheek. Your eyes widened when the father growled in pain. Andrew then stood up and dragged Mary out to the hallway. You stood up and helped Lord Rose by handing him a napkin. He pressed it against his face. You didn't know what to do exactly.
"Lord Rose! A-Are you okay?!"
"My eyes! They burn!!"
You freaked out and splashed cold water on his face. He grabbed your wrist as he wiped his face from the cold water. He took a second to breath and then looked at you. His face was red and his eyes as well. You were terrified.
"Why did you come here?! This would not have happened!"
"I-I am sorry.... I could have moved...."
"Ah, forget it. You have no where else to go. Fetch me the nurse."
You nodded and went to the wall where several bells were. You rang the one of the nurse and she came running in within minutes. She held a first aid kit and she started to ice the Lord's face. You felt like you didn't belong. You wiped the tea drop on your cheek and exited the room. You saw Andrew walking back down the hall, alone. You assumed Mary ran away to her room and locked it. You saw him coming to you, and he looked angry as hell. So, you ran. You turned left down every hallway, Andrew chasing you. You ran up the stairs and into the bedroom to the far back. You opened the door and locked it behind you.
