Truth

I woke up on the couch with jahseh laying in front of me on the other side. I grabbed my phone from the floor and checked the time.

" Fuck, I have to be at work in 2 hours."

I got up quickly scanning for my shoes and went to wake up jahseh.

" Jahseh!!" I said shrugging his shoulder.

" jahseh get your ass up." I yelled hitting him on the side of the head.

" Fuck, what the hell scarlet."

" Get up! I need to go home, I have to work." I told him.

I ran to the car as jahseh decided to take his precious time. During the ride, I got a call from Tyler.

" Tyler's calling me be quiet."

" Scarlet where the hell are you, I've been trying to call since last night but you never picked up." Ty screamed through the phone.

I looked through my phone and Saw I had 15 missed calls from him. I made up a quick lie.

" Sorry, my phone died I'm charging it now."

" Lyin ass" jahseh said Loud as hell.

I slapped his shoulder and mouthed 'shut up' as I continued to talk to Ty.

" damn it you had me worried at fuck last night, we still on to have lunch during our breaks." He asked.

" Yes, of course, see you then." I told him hanging up the phone.

Jahseh pulled up to the house and I quickly got out and ran in with him behind me. I ran up stairs to the bathroom to start my shower. As I went through my closet for clothes I turned around and jumped seeing jahseh standing in the door way.

" Why you still with that punk as nigga?" He asked sitting down on the edge of the bed.

" Because I...love him." I hesitated.

" Just hearing the way you said that, lets me know you don't. You sounded unsure."

I looked down knowing he was right.

" I've known Ty for a long time, he's my only best friend besides Kia. He's always been there when no one was." I told him honestly.

" Scarlet I've been keeping something from you, to stop you from worrying about that nigga. At the party, before I ran out the house with everyone else. I saw Tyler with another girl running out ,when I got in the car with you I saw them drive away together." He explained.

" How can I believe you, you don't even know what he looks like." I defended.

" Does he have a heart tattoo on his right shoulder?"

My heart dropped, he does have a heart tattoo.

" Jahseh get out of my room. Now." I told him.

He tried to talk to me but I just waved him off, I just couldn't bring my self to look at him at that moment. I know he was just telling the truth but I just couldn't believe it.

I took a shower and got ready for work. I left the room to see jahseh in my kitchen eating cereal. I grabbed an oatmeal bar and took my keys off the counter.

" I'm leaving for work, you can stay here if you want." I said as jahseh nodded his head with out a response.

I got in the car on my way to hell.

My lunch break came around and I was nervous as hell. After hearing the honest truth, I just couldn't bring myself to see his face. He lied to me, gave me an excuse and my stupid as believed every word.

I was inside Starbucks waiting for him as I drunk my coffee. I kept playing scenarios in my head, I wanted to find a way to go about this without causing a scene in public.

I looked up seeing Tyler walk in, he went up to the counter ordering something then coming towards me.

" Hey, baby." He leaned down to kiss me but I moved away.

He sat down angrily knowing something was up.

" Really Scarlet, what the hell is wrong with you now?"

" Since you won't tell me the truth, I think we should separate for a little bit. Don't talk to me unless you ready to tell me the truth." I said getting up from my seat, I left him sitting there in shock.

On my way back to work he kept trying to calling but I refused to answer it. I need a break from all the lies. I too am aware that I've been lying, I guess we both are not ready to tell the truth.

Work was finally over, I couldn't wait to get home.

I walked into the house seeing the tv on with jahseh who had his feet propped on the table.

" I didn't expect you to stay."

" I didn't want to leave risking not seeing you again, especially after what I said." He laughed.

I loved seeing him laugh, it was rare to see it at times. His smile just seemed to brighten up the room, literally. His grill shimmered in the light every time he smiled. It made me smile.

I kicked off my shoes and sat down next to him. I became tired placing my head in his lap letting him rub my back.

" I talked to him today, I told him we should take a break. But I didn't break up with him, I just wanna stay away from him for a while." I said.

" That's a start. What if I told you I knew the girl he was with." He asked me all of a sudden.

" I would find her ass, drag her by her weave right out the house and beat the hell out of her." I replied honestly.

" Good fucking thing I don't" He laughed.

I closed my eyes feeling jahseh leave kisses up and down my neck. I moaned softly. I fell asleep to the feeling of him caressing me.
