A Violist Playing the IV Violin Part (Part 1)

I've been playing the viola for almost five years now. After some thinking, I finally decided to take private lessons. Anyways, there are orchestra rehearsals held every Sunday from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Being the bored, over-achiever I am, I obviously joined the group as soon as I entered the music school. Now, this isn't your average ensemble with cellos, string basses, violins, and violas. Oh no. There are about 5 violinists who actually show up every week (including the conductor). And then there's me. The one violist who appears for every rehearsal.

One of the pieces that will be played is from Vivaldi's Concerto for Four Violins in b minor. Since no viola part was available, I played the fourth violin part. On the first day, I was given the music sheet for the first movement of the concerto. The music hasn't been transposed to the alto clef and my slow interpretation of the treble clef is well... SLOW. So I basically just stood there, acting like I knew what measure we're on. It was awful; just standing there, not being able to do anything but stare at the notes, one by one, figuring what note it is. I've never felt so... disappointed at myself.

Fortunately, one of the violinists emailed me the transposed music sheets and I immediately started practicing it. About 4 weeks later, I received the sheet music for the Waltz. Disadvantageously, it includes the treble clef. Despite this obstacle, I gradually played through the piece once I got home and am able to play it now [yay!!!].  Although it may have been challenging at first, I grew (and am still growing) to enjoy the pieces.

    ~Next Time during Rehearsals~

WOW! Another violist has appeared for orchestra rehearsals! Interesting... this OTHER violist is... admirable, despite his absence for attending for weeks. To be continued...

A/N: Hope you liked it. I hope it wasn't too boring. I'm going to go practice for 2 hours now. ;-; it's 9:39 PM now. Darn you kdramas!!!!! So addicting, yet time-consuming.
