Melody and I arrived back at the lab where everyone was in a hurry to try and fix all that happened. I could see the equipment knocked over, and there was a massive hole in the lab's wall that separated the outside from the inside. When they all saw me, they stopped what they were doing to stare at me, fear in their eyes. I looked at them with Melody by my side and the lab coat fastened to keep my chest secured.
Up ahead, I saw Peter. His eyes were full of fear as well. Both of us stopped in front of him. "Peter..." I began, but he stopped me. "Don't," he said. "Don't try to fix this." I looked at him with sadness in my eyes. "Please...I'm sorry. This wasn't supposed to happen, I promise you!" But Peter wouldn't listen.
"All of us are leaving. I'm sorry, Blair, but we can't work at a gamma lab with someone who actually is the daughter of the Incredible Hulk. It's too dangerous." And with that he walked past me. Everyone turned and started to leave.
I couldn't believe what I had just heard. All of my employees had left me. Melody and I were the only two remaining in the building, the only ones who were still working. Everyone else had gone.
"Don't worry, Blair," Melody said. "Sure, everyone's gone now, but right now we need to focus on what's important and that's finding more about you." I nodded in agreement. We had to find out more.
We went into my office and sat down. Melody sat across from me and began asking me a lot of questions such as "When did you first discover your strength?" and "When did your father die?" and so many others. I answered them the best that I could. Finally, Melody ended with one more question.
"Does your Hulk self have its own personality?" she asked. I was silent for a minute. I know that I was trapped in the darkness until I saw light after I transformed. I didn't know what was going on while I was in the darkness because I couldn't see anything until that beam of light coming from up ahead. It was possible that there was a different personality all together.
I thought back to my father, how his alter-ego, The Incredible Hulk, had a different personality than my father. So, if the same thing happened to me, it was possible that my Hulk self was actually a different person. I told Melody my thoughts on it and she nodded.
"I agree. If both you and your father had the same accident, it's most likely that the results are the same: You and your father's alter-ego's have different personalities than the both of you," she replied.
Just then, the news on the TV came up. The news reporter spoke. "Attention all citizens of New York City. Just a few moments ago, it seemed as if something resembling the Incredible Hulk attacked the city. It had incredible strength and even picked up a car and threw it into a building. No one was severely hurt, but I advice you to watch out for yourselves."
I sighed and turned the TV off. This was what I was worried about. "What are we going to do?" I asked Melody. "If more people find out about me, then I'm doomed." I put my hands over my face and groaned. What I was going to do now?
"As long as you don't get angry around other people you'll be fine. Just keep your cool and keep that eye hidden. We don't need anyone finding out that you're that Hulk girl." Then, she began to smile.
"What?" She laughed. "Hulk girl! That's a nice name for you!" I raised an eyebrow. "Really? You're really naming me right now." She nodded. "Doesn't it sound like a great name?"
"I guess," I said while shrugging. I didn't really like the idea of having a name for whatever was inside me. Arguing with Melody would only make things worse so I just went with it.
The next few days we did everything we could to try and keep me from having another incident. It was difficult because the work we were doing was very stressful. We had to take a lot of breaks so I could easily calm down and not rip my clothing.
We were working on studying the Hulk Girl (why did I use that name?). The details we found out were she was triggered by anger and by stress. Whenever my heart raced when I was angry, it would spread the gamma cells in my blood, causing the muscles in my body to work harder, meaning that they would have to expand to match the size of my Hulk self.
Since the gamma cells were green, that was the reason why the pigmentation in my skin was green, instead of my normal color. It was also the reason why my left eye was green instead of blue, but that was already a thing. My eye was originally green, but because of the added gamma, my eye was glowing. That's why I had to keep it hidden.
We actually decided to have me wear an eye-patch over it because my hair could easily be moved out of the way. We didn't want it to move and people seeing it and screaming and running away. That would not be good on my part.
A week went by and we had all the information we needed. Melody and I even worked on trying to rebuild the lab. We put up a sheet and stapled it to cover up the massive hole in the wall. That way, none of us would fall out and hurt ourselves while we worked. We also made sure that when we rebuilt the lab, no excess gamma radiation flowed through and infected us, especially me. I didn't need more gamma in my system than there already was. We wore protective suits, you know, like the ones in the alien films.
When the lab was finally rebuilt, we were exhausted. "Didn't realize how much work it would take," said Melody as she collapsed into a chair and leaned back. I nodded in agreement. "Me neither."
The two of us just sat there, relaxing. Just then, Melody's phone started to ring. She answered it. "Hello? Oh, hi, Dad. Nothing much. I'm just at work right now," she said. They talked for a bit. Then Melody looked at me. "You want to, what?" she asked, her eyes fixed on me.
"You're bringing the team back together?" I gave her a confused look. She turned and continued to talk. "That was only a one time thing. It's probably gone by now. No, Dad. Wha-? No, you can't! It's gone, and- Dad no!" Apparently the line disconnected and Melody put her phone down in shock and fear.
"Are you okay?" I asked her. Melody just stared in front of her. Finally, she got the courage to speak again. And what she told me scared the life out of me.
"The Hulk-Busters are going to go after Hulk Girl. They're going to destroy her."
