Mark's POV:

"How are things at home?" The doctor asks.

"Fine." I say.

"No it's not. He's falling asleep sitting up, he gets winded very easily, he's throwing up blood, and he's having nose bleeds often." Christie says and I look down.

"I know you want to be okay but I need to know the truth. Now let's take a look at that tumor. Take your shirt off and lay down." The doctor orders and I do. Christie grabs my hand gently.

Dr. Sinclair squirts a cool gel on my stomach and uses the wand to spread it around and find the tumor.

"This is good news." She says.

"What is it?" I ask.

"The tumor has stopped growing. It's not too big so we can take it out. Then you'll be in remission." She says.

"Really?" Christie asks smiling.

"Comgratulations Mark. You're almost cancer free." She says wiping the gel and my eyes fill with tears. Christie smiles with tears in her eyes as well and hugs me.

"Let's go home baby." I said. She smiled and we set up an appointment for my surgery.

"Let's go out to eat tonight. How about it?"

"I would love that." She said. So that night, she spent two hours getting ready and was just slipping into her dress when I walked in unannounced.

"Hey baby." I said, holding her from behind. She leaned back into me.

"Do I look okay?"

She had on a silky teal  dress that had a slit running up her left leg, stopping mid-thigh. Her neckline swooped down between her breast stopping in the middle of her busty cleavage. The dress had a tie strap around her neck and her back was bare all the way down just over her waist. Her hair was twisted into loose ringlets that ran down her back, stopping just below her shoulder blades. Her make-up was done perfectly having smoky grey eyelids that made her green eyes pop. Her lips were a dark blood red that matched the dress perfectly.

A diamond necklace I had given her dangled from her neck just down to her cleavage that I just couldn't stop looking at. What? I'm a guy. Sue me.

"You look like a goddess, my love." I said kissing her neck just a little. "I bought you something." I said pulling out a long, black, velvet box. She opened it and gasped taking the simple diamond bracelet in her fingers.

"How much is this?" She asked breathless.

"That doesn't matter. What matters is that you love it and you'll wear it tonight." I said.

"Of course I love it. Can you put it on me?" She asked, turning around and holding her wrist out. I took it from her and placed the delicate bracelet on her wrist clasping it closed. I kissed the inside of her wrist and looked into her eyes. She closed them momentarily. The smile never left her face.

"One of my buddies and his wife will be joining us later after dinner if that's alright."

"Where are we going after dinner?"

"A bar I own downtown. Thought it would be fun for us to dance and have a little fun considering the news we got last week."

"Of course. I'd love to meet your friend and his wife. Do they know about me, though? Where I came from?"

"No, it wasn't my thing to tell. If they ask just tell them the truth. It's nothing to be ashamed of."

"But what if they don't like me? I'm not exactly... a great person to be involved with." She said, a normal reaction to the nervousness.

"They will love you, baby. Don't even sweat it. Everything will be ok."

She nodded on my chest.

"Promise." I said, kissing her gently.
