Christie's POV"Where are we going?" I asked for the 10th time in the last 20 minutes of the car ride. He wouldn't answer me.
"You'll see." He smirked in the back seat beside me. He was wearing cargo shorts and a blue polo shirt. I was in a tank top and cut-off blue jean shorts.
About 30 minutes later, we arrived at a boardwalk/amusement park. My jaw dropped when I saw the name: Johnson pier.
"You own this place?" I asked in disbelief.
"Sure do. And 3 more like it in Florida, South Carolina, and Louisiana. I'm working on trying to get one in New York, too. Right outside my apartment there."
"You have an apartment in New York?" I ask incredulously.
"Yeah. But it's smaller than the penthouse we're at now. It's only for when I'm there for business." He explains as we're walking to the pier. "So where do you want to go first?"
I take his hand and drag him everywhere in sight. Roller coasters, Ferris Wheel, Tunnel of Love, House of Mirrors, game stands, cotton candy machines, hot dog cart, gazebos, and lastly, we sit on the edge of the pier with our bare feet in the water my back to his front, sitting between his legs as we watch the sun set reflect of the water. Once it's down, I get sleepy and lay back against his chest.
"Come on. We've had a busy day. Let's get you home and to bed." He says and helps me up. After a bit of walking, he gets tired of me bumping into him so he picks me up. I nuzzle into his chest, feeling warm, cozy, and exhausted.
"Thank you for bringing me here." I mumbled in my sleepy state. He just kisses my head and continues to carry me as I drift off in complete peace. Something I haven't felt in a long time.
Mark's POV:
When we got home, I was exhausted. Christie had me running all over the pier today but she had fun and I was glad I could give that to her. She was asleep in my arms with a smile on her face. She was so happy today. Her laughter was contagious.
I laid her in her bed and changed her into a cotton night gown. I washed the grimy sweat from her face and brushed her hair. I kissed her forehead gently and tucked her in going into my own room. I hate sleeping alone.
