Are you kidding me? Bloody hell, that's it?! Merlin's beard, I've been searching for months and you're telling me it's as easy as getting into the right headspace? Jezus Christ dad, this was a waste of my time.
"Well, how was I supposed to know. I'm not a genius."
No, you can say that again. Did you even try before you went and bothered me about it?
"Yes."
You totally didn't.
"Yes I did!"
No, you didn't
"Bu-"
Didn't
"Did"
Didn't
There was a pause before Sirius replied again.
"So what if I didn't? Is it a crime to want to talk to my daughter?"
You're saying you staged this to get to talk to me?
"No,... well maybe. Sort of. But I did actually need to know how to get out of this body so technically, I didn't stage anything."
You're such a child, dad.
"I know, right? Isn't it awesome?"A small smile played on my lips as I sighed. This was nice. Sirius and I hadn't really had this kind of a conversation before, but it was nice.
Today, after months of searching in every single book in the school, I finally found what I was looking for in the last book that wasn't in the restricted section. It wasn't what I had expected though. It was a miserable little paragraph with 3 sentences explaining how to transform back.
'Sometimes an Animagus will get stuck in their animal form, this happens when they have spent a long time outside their human body and adapt to the animal behavior and headspace. They can transform back, once they return to the human headspace. This can be achieved by surrounding one's self with humans.'
So what now? Where are you going next?
"Merlin knows. And you? Are you going home for Christmas? Or are you staying at school?"Actually, Fred and George invited me to come celebrate at the Burrow, with their family. I'll spend a few days there and then I'll head home to see mum for a bit as well. Remus is required to stay here though.
"Merlin I guess I better get used to you calling Tonks mum. It seems so strange."
I frowned. I hadn't even thought about the fact that it would probably be weird for him.Oh, I'm sorry dad. It's just a habit.
"It's fine love." Sirius replied softly, and I could just picture the faint smile on his lips as he said it.
♦
"Hey, Dad?" I questioned as I was in my morning transfiguration class with Remus one Wednesday morning.
"Yes, love?" He replied, looking up.
"Do you think it would bother Sirius that I call Tonks and you mum and dad? Would he mind that do you think?"
Remus looked surprised by the question, he had probably never really thought about it.
"I don't think so, no." He finally replied. "He might have to get used to the idea, but I don't think he'd mind. He must realize that Dora and I have been your mother and father for twelve years now. It would seem only logical you'd start calling us mum and dad someday." Remus explained. He shut the textbook in his lap and put it aside before he looked at me again.
"Why do you ask?"
"I'm not sure. I guess it's been on my mind the last couple of days." The man nodded.
"Has your father been on your mind a lot?"
I nodded, "Yeah, I guess. I think that with all of this going on, I just kind of realized that I don't really know him at all. I guess I'm worried that I won't get to know him." I confessed to my god father.
"You will, love. Don't you worry about that."
I nod again. "Thanks dad."
