UNEDITED____

Monday September sixth Nineteen-Ninety-Three, the official start of term. Sure, we had all been back at school since September First, but to just start classes on the next day was a bit too much, Dumbledore said. So we got to hang out and settle in for a couple of days until the professors got to torture us with a ton of homework, and studying to do.

Fifth-year was going to murder me. It was the first day of school, yet my professors had already managed to drown me in work. My first two tests had already been scheduled and I was so exhausted at the end of the day that I nearly fell asleep in my soup that evening. I'd started the day off with History of Magic, which was the reason that I never actually woke up properly today. Whomever made our timetable is the dumbest person in the world. Now, History of Magic is most definitely interesting, but it is a lot of lecture and a lot of reading. At eight fifteen in the morning, no one is going to be paying any attention to the subject at hand. By the time second period came around, I still walked around like a zombie, tired and not in the mood to do anything.

A hand laid atop my head, causing me to snap out of my trance. I turned my head to find Fred and George next to me, their eyes gleaming with joy.

"Don't you look lovely this evening." George mentioned as his body shook with laughter. I replied by giving him a dirty look and turned back to my soup. I was probably just going to go to bed right after dinner. Tomorrow was going to be another long day, and I wanted to be sure that I wasn't going to be really crappy again.

My bowl was taken away and replaced by a piece of parchment and a quill. Annoyed I looked to Fred and George but they weren't paying me any attention, caught up in some heated conversation with their friend Lee.

'Miss Black,

As I'm sure you are aware, both Charms class and Transfiguration are scheduled for tomorrow. You will not be taking this subject with your fellow classmates, as per usual. However, your personal tutor is unavailable this year, so Professor Dumbledore thought it would be a good idea to have Professor Lupin guide you in your separate studies for now.

The ministry of magic needs to have record of these sort of things, so we'd appreciate it if you would sign the statement on the next page. Please turn this paper in, signed and well, by tomorrow morning, seven o' clock sharp so that your classes can continue as usual.

Thank you,

Professor Minerva McGonagall,

Head of Gryffindor house.'

Right. Almost forgot about that.

Since I cannot speak, studying the practice of magic is more difficult for me than it is for any other student. It takes a lot of extra practice and a very powerful witch or wizard to be able to perform magic non-verbally. Many witches and wizards are able to perform certain basic spells, such as 'lumos', 'nox' and such without having to voice the spell, but it takes a lot more, to perform advanced magic in such a way. Because of my need for extra attention and different teaching I do not take charms and transfiguration class with the fellow student body.

I quickly signed the piece of paper without reading it and rolled it up. As I was about to get up to get Jug to bring the contract to McGonagall the puppy came running at me, a terrified look in his eyes. The puppy jumped onto me, his front paws resting on my chest as he looked at me. I held the pup in my arms and looked around to see what had frightened the animal but there was nothing. No student that looked suspicious and no ghosts either. Hermione's cat was nowhere in sight, so it wouldn't have been him either. The pup must've just missed me or something.

After petting the dog's head for a while, Jug seemed to calm down. His tongue lapped my cheek making me giggle.

Well someone is excited to see me.

The pup looked to the piece of parchment in my hand and nudged it with his head. Smiling I nod my head and slip the rolled-up note into his collar, where after Jug jumped from my lap, onto the floor. Across the hall he ran, towards the professor in the emerald green gown. You'd think she would be head of Slytherin house instead of Gryffindor.

I smiled and took my eyes off of the puppy, getting myself a new bowl of soup.

¨

"Oh really? Prove it woman!" George's lips read, as his face looked exceptionally skeptical when I told him I would be able to turn him into a bird.

"I don't think that's a great idea."

"Well, if you don't prove it, I'm just going to say you can't do it." The boy said looking smug. I smiled rolling my eyes.

I'm so going to get into trouble for this....

Whipping my wand out of my pocket, I prepared myself for all hell to break loose. I flicked my wand, and the boy in front of me was gone. A ginger falcon was sitting on the log instead, looking around clueless.

"What the heck, Black! I didn't think you'd have the guts." Fred laughed. He lifted his arm, so that his brother could sit on his arm, before turning to face me once again. His eyes grew wide as he caught sight of something behind me, his face grew pale.

"euhm, Hi professor. How are you today." He said. I turned around, my heart thumping in my throat as I prepaired for the worst. Professor Snape was looking straight at me with that stern look of his and nodded his head.

"You, Black. I need to speak with you." He said.

Awh shite. Please dear merlin help me.

Nervously I nodded and gave Fred a small smile as I followed the man to a more secluded part of the courtyard.

There you go, dumbass. You got yourself suspended. Moron.

"I was just able to finish Remus' potion, you need to be sure to get it to him before midnight. Do you think you can handle that, ms. Black" The man told me.

A wave of relief washed over me and I felt as if I could fly. Sweet baby Jesus thank you. My prayers had been heard.
