AMARA WALKED ALONG THE EMPTY CORRIDOR, HER VISION SWITCHING FROM THE TIMETABLE IN HER HAND TO THE DOORS LINING THE HALLWAY.

"Eight, nope. Nine, nope. Ten, nope." she muttered to herself as she scanned the signs on the doors. "Aha, eleven."

With a feeling of victory flowing through her at her succession, Amara twisted the door knob of her assigned classroom and stepped inside. All of her confidence immediately fell to the floor as she stepped inside, all eyes on her.

The teacher who had been drawing a diagram on the board turned to the girl who stood awkwardly in the doorway, sending a welcoming smile her way.

"You must be—" she looked towards the pile of papers on her desk, her eyes setting on a particular one. "Amara Waverly."

Amara nodded, speaking seeming unlikely at this point as she could barely meet the teacher's eyes.

"You can take a seat next to...Peter."

The girl's face brightened at the familiar name and she made her way over to the seat that Ms. Warren had gestured to. Peter hadn't seemed to notice her sitting in the empty seat next to him or anything at all for that matter because his head was laid on his arms and his eyes were completely shut. Amara stifled a giggle as she took out her books from her bag before dropping it at her feet. He seemed to have dozed off while watching videos on Youtube because a video of the vigilante that had been on the news recently for stopping petty crime in the area was playing on his screen.

Taking her attention away from Peter, figuring it was best not to wake him, Amara faced the front of the classroom and took note of the diagram on the board in her notebook, tuning into the teacher's words.

"Okay, so how do we calculate linear acceleration between point A and B?"Ms Warren asked the class, the hand of a boy several seats in front of Amara and Peter's hand flying up. "Flash?"

"It's the product of sin of the angle and gravity divided by the mass." he read from the paper in front of him.

"Nope," Ms. Warren said immediately and the boy's face fell. "Peter?"

Peter's head immediately shot up from the desk and he was fully awake, a smile curving on Amara's lips.

"You still with us?"

"Uh—Uh, yeah, yeah," Peter lied, having blatantly been completely knocked out only seconds ago. Despite that, he closed his laptop and looked to the board, almost immediately knowing the answer. "Mass cancels out so it's just mass times sin."

"Right," the teacher nodded and Amara looked towards Peter with amazement. She would have to take it up a notch if she wanted to stay in this class. "See, Flash, being the fastest isn't always the best if you are wrong."

The boy named Flash then turned towards Peter who was completely unaware of his new seating partner and mouthed 'you are dead' to him, Peter then turning to the clock on the wall behind him.
