The dart wore off for Maui, but he let Moana sail for a little while longer, with Kimi's help of course. He stayed at the front of the boat while Kimi and Moana talked.

"So, how is Montunui?" Kimi asked.

"Well, not so good. The island is dying. That's why we're here in the first place," Moana answered.

Kimi nodded sadly then wondered, "Is our family okay?"

"Mom and Dad are fine," Moana replied.

"What about Gramma?" Kimi asked.

Moana looked at her sadly on the verge of tears as she answered, "She's...gone."

Kimi was shocked at this. Her grandmother is dead? She started crying and Moana comforted her. Her grandmother was one of the reasons she loved the ocean and now that she's gone, she felt like she lost a piece of herself.

"She wanted me to tell you that she loves you and that she wanted you to have this," Moana continued.

Kimi looked at her as she unwrapped the necklace from her wrist and gave it to her. Kimi held it and let her thumb travel across the unique patterns. She held it close before she put it around her neck then wiped her tears away.

"Well, I'm gonna go to bed. Do you want Maui to take over?" Moana asked.

Kimi nodded then sat against the mast and pulled her knees close.

Moana went to Maui and asked him to take over and he agreed. Moana went to sleep and Maui noticed Kimi's state.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

Kimi looked at him and answered, "Why do you care?"

He was taken back by this as he wondered, "Why wouldn't I?"

She stood up and pointed out, "I know that you were there for me on that desert island and when you rescued me from the Kakamora, but you left my sister and I in that cave and you don't think that I'm a good demigoddess. You're sending me mixed signals here."

Maui frowned, knowing what she said was true. He had been sending her mixed signals, but they were for good reason.

"I'm sorry about that, but all in all, I really do want to make sure that you're okay. I don't like to see you unhappy and I want to make things right with you," Maui told her.

Now Kimi was surprised at this. He really wanted to make things right with her? She sighed and gave him a small smile, which he returned.

She sat down in front of him and started, "I just found out that my grandmother died. She was one of the reasons I'm out here. She loved the ocean as much as Moana and I do. She told me that our ancestors were voyagers and some were demigods and demigoddesses. They only pass it on to who they believe is worthy in their family. And I wanted to know why I was chosen and how to use my powers. So, I left for adventure and answers, but after finding out that Gramma's gone, I can't share them with her."

She bowed her head as tears started to form again. Maui tied the oar to the sail for it to keep going and he knelt down in front of her. He lifted her head up for her to face him.

"I may not know what that is like. To have or lose family. But I do know this. If your grandmother was anything like you, then she must have been an amazing person. And I can't think of anyone better for them to choose to be a demigoddess other than you," he said.

Kimi smiled and hugged him. He hesitated at first then hugged her back. He stood and lifted her up as he held her close. When they parted, they couldn't help but get lost in each other's eyes. Time seemed to stop as she let her hands rest on his chest and his rest on her waist. Then he kissed her forehead and she closed her eyes and smiled at his touch.

"Thank you," she whispered.

Maui stopped and looked at her as he said, "You're welcome."

She giggled as she walked to the front of the boat, leaving Maui to sail. But he couldn't help but think that even though he joked about her liking him, he was starting to fall for her.

(A/N I changed the lyrics a little to make it fit in with the story.)

Maui:
I met you in the dark
You lit me up
You made me feel as though
I was enough
We danced the night away
We talked too much
But I sat and listened when
You were going on

Then you smiled over your shoulder
For a minute I was no longer colder
I pulled you closer to my chest
And you asked me to stay over
I said, I already told you
I think that you should get some rest

I knew I loved you then
But you'd never know
'Cause I played it cool when I was scared of letting go
I knew I needed you
But I never showed
But I wanna stay with you
Until we're grey and old

Just say you won't let go
Just say you won't let go

I wake you up with some
Breakfast in bed
I'll bring you water
With a kiss on your head
And I'll teach the kids to sail
Wave them goodbye
And I'll thank my lucky stars
For that night

When you looked over your shoulder
For a minute I forget that I'm older
I wanna dance with you right now, oh
And you look as beautiful as ever
And I swear that every day you get better
You make me feel this way somehow

I'm so in love with you
And I hope you know
Darling, your love is more than worth its weight in gold
We've come so far, my dear
Look how we've grown
And I wanna stay with you
Until we're grey and old

Just say you won't let go
Just say you won't let go

I wanna live with you
Even when we're ghosts
'Cause you were always there for me
When I needed you most

I'm gonna love you 'til
My lungs give out
I promise 'til death we part
Like in our vows
So I wrote this song for you
Now everybody knows
That it's just you and me
Until we're grey and old

Just say you won't let go
Just say you won't let go

Just say you won't let go
Oh, just say you won't let go

Maui smiled as he kept sailing and saw Kimi. That's when he realized he was in love.

A/N Oh my gosh! Maui's in love! And also, the song he sang was in his head, because if he literally sang it and Kimi heard him...You get the point. But who else is fangirling besides me? Lol!
