It all happened during New York. Watching him trying to destroy the world. He wasn't your normal villain, he didn't try over and over again, and he realized that what he did was wrong.

The first time.

I have to admit I helped with that part. After New York I didn't have anything to do, since Fury recruited new agents and there weren't any other villains trying to take over the world.

Or trying to go up against the Avengers.

Doctor Banner got his own libratory, Stark built a brand new tower, of course larger than life than the last, and created two beautiful daughters with Pepper. Natasha and Clint got together and are always helping to train the new recruits, and Thor being Thor. But me? I had nothing to do, no one to love, to share a life, a home, a family with. Until I started to fall for an unlikely person.

****

It all really started during New York. But when we realized it, it was years after.

Since I had nothing to do, I would go to Asgard and see if Odin or Thor would need help. At first it was my duty to help, as an Avenger, but after awhile of the duo saying they never needed help, I began visiting him.

Loki.

Seeing him in a cage bored out of his mind should have been achingly satisfying, and it oh yes it was.

The first time I went.

But after the second visit and listening to him talk of his endless days in the cage began to sadden me, listening to his words was painful, knowing I was a part that helped cause him to be where he was now.

So I tried to help, and I began to visit him more and more, which at first was only once a week, but then became a daily routine. The more I visited him, the more he intrigued me, and the more I learned, and the more I cared.

I'm not going to start directly from the beginning, because nothing really interesting happened, just him and I glaring at each other, nothing you really want to hear I'm sure. So I'll start at the day when Loki started speaking.

****

It was a normal day, just like any other, as I make my way to a spot in which Heimdall can open the Bifrost, my ride to Asgard. I pick my favorite spot, underneath a Japanese cherry blossom tree out in the woods a little ways behind the new Stark tower. I look up at the skyscraper of a building Tony built and smile, wondering what he and Pepper are doing with their girls right now.

I remember the day Tony called me, and told me he had two girls. Of course they aren't twins, but he wanted to keep them a secret until his and Pepper's plan was finished. He sounded so excited, nothing like the Tony I was fought beside, but a new Tony, a more responsible one, a father. That phone call came to me 10 years ago, which makes them almost teenagers. Ciara and Victoria are their names, honestly beautiful names.

I make it to the tree the same time I do almost every day the sunlight just bright rough and having just enough space to shine on the cherry blossoms, making them kind of almost glow, making it look like it belongs on Asgard and surrounded by gods.

"Heimdall! It's time!" I yell up at the canopy of trees as I'm skyrocketed through space, landing in the golden room of the Bifrost, Heimdall, the gatekeeper, nods a greeting to me.

I nod back as I leave, making the long walk on the rainbow bridge, as I'm alone once again with my thoughts.

Maybe today will be the day Odin and Thor need my help. Or maybe it will be like every other day, uneventful and leaving me feeling useless. I walk my usual way, heading into the palace first, finding Odin and Thor in the throne room, yet another usual occurrence.

"Hey Cap." Thor says, smiling.

I nod respectively to the God, though wherever the notion is translated both ways I am unsure, but nevertheless do it anyway. "Thor."

I look over to Odin, who seems to be watching my every move. "Need any help today?" Odin doesn't answer, he just shakes his head

I nod, and leave, the feeling I interrupted something lingering inside me. I make my way out of the throne room and make the path to the dungeon. I get there and walk over to Loki's cage without even thinking about it. At this point it kind of is just a natural thing, like a human instinct.

We look at each other for a few minutes, a smirk spreading across Loki's face.

"Why hello Cap."
