Innocent or Guilty

The color drained from my face. I felt light-headed and my stomach did loop-dee-loops. I swore I'd just heard her wrong.

"What?" I squeaked. Tears threatened to spill.

Blair put a friendly hand on my shoulder. "I'm so sorry, Pep. I would've told you ages ago, but-"

"What do you mean?" I gave her a worried look. "How long has this been going on?"

"Almost since you guys started dating," Blair sighed. "I almost told you as soon as it started going on, but I was afraid you wouldn't believe me."

"I almost don't," I said weakly. "I almost can't."

Blair held my hands. "You don't have to if you don't want to. But you'll find out the truth eventually."

"Eventually," I repeated. Finally, tears ran down my cheeks as I began to sob. Blair threw her arms around me and held me as I cried. After an eternity, I sniffled and looked at Blair. "Who is he cheating on me with?"

Blair gulped. "Florence Dollwood."

My entire body froze and boiled with anger. "You mean..."

Blair nodded.

I wanted to scream, but it came out a whisper. "Niall's been cheating on me with the school slut?!"

"I'm so sorry, Pep. She's been after him since he came to this school. Even though she knew you two were dating, she had to get her hands on him."

How does she know all that? Instead of asking, I just made an angry grunt and thanked Blair for telling me.

*Niall's POV*

After Blair took Pepper to talk with her, I got worried. Blair looked like she meant something serious.

"Don't be worried," Jim assured me. "They're just having a bit of girl-talk." It was as if he'd read my mind.

"Yeah," Caspar joined. "Girls are strange creatures. They make big deals out of nothing. Worst case scenario, your girlfriend's bestie just needs help refreshing her makeup after PE."

I laughed lightly. It did sound like something Blair would talk to Pepper about, but her makeup looked fine, if there was any on her face at all.

Suddenly, Pepper came stomping back into the cafeteria: her face tear-stained. I felt cold. What happened?

"Babe?" I asked as she got closer. She glared at me darkly and made a 'humph' noise and grabbed her things. She then left the cafeteria again.

Joe looked flabbergasted. "Dude! She looked pissed! What did you do?!"

I threw my hands up defensively. "I didn't do anything! Why would I ever hurt my girlfriend like that?!"

I looked to find Pepper, but she disappeared. Fear crept into my mind.

What did I do? Where is she going? And more importantly...

Is this the end of us?
