Chapter 4~

I made my way thought the long hallway to the cafeteria, and paused before entering the large double doors.

Why are you freaking out about this... it was just one little kiss. It didn't mean anything. And besides,  he already hates me anyway.

I took one last deep breath and pushed the doors open. The room of pots clinging and teenagers chattering was suddenly very quiet. I walked through the line of students getting their food. I filled my tray quickly, not noticing what food items I selected. I paid then went to find a seat. I looked around the crowded cafeteria and all but a few people in the back corner were staring at me. I looked over to the table where I usually sat with Abby, and it was full of faces I didn't recognize, no Abby in sight.

My eyes searched the room, looking for a table to sit. There was a table to my left that was occupied by the band geeks, and behind them were the kids with all the facial piercing, that wear all black and listened to that screaming music that scared me.. both tables are out of the question.

I sighed, then turned to my right and froze. A pair of blue eyes were looking in my direction. I looked away quickly, pretending I didn't see him. He was siting at the "jackass table"... that's what me and Abby use to call it. Its were all the football team sat. I glanced back at the table and Chase was still looking at me. He motioned toward the empty sit beside him, but I ignored him and hurried to the almost empty table in the middle of the cafeteria, hopefully I'll be able to avoid him for the rest of the lunch period. I walked to the table where... Anna, I think her name was, sits alone.

"Hi" I said awkwardly, Anna was looking down reading a book and didn't seem to notice me standing there.

" Um Anna?" I asked, poking her arm to get her attention. She jumped and looked at me with wide eyes.

"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to scare you..."

She just looked at me, not replying.

"Um.. is it okay if I sit with you today?" I asked her, not very hopefully. I did just scare the shit out of the poor girl, I wouldn't let me sit with me either..

She smiled slyly at me and nodded her head yes.

I smiled back at her and took a seat across from her.

"I'm Nicole" I introduced myself.

I reached my hand across the table to shake hers. She gladly shook my hand but said nothing.

"Anna, right?" I asked, still not sure of her name.

She just nodded again.

"Its nice to meet you, Anna" I said, and might it. I always felt sorry for her whenever I saw her.. I don't think she has any friends, she sits here everyday reading alone. She is considered the schools biggest nerd, an outcast, like me.

She was actually quite pretty, through. Maybe if she wasn't so shy she could fit in at the cheerleaders table. She had dark red hair that fall slightly passed her shoulders. She was real pale but her skin was otherwise blemish free. She wear a pair of purple glasses that hide her green eyes that were a shade or two lighter mine.

I ate my lunch quietly, mindlessly looking around the cafeteria. Only a handful of people would look my way every now and then, at least they weren't staring.
