Remember You | Lance X Fem Reader (Voltron)

Prologue

Today was the day I was being sent with Takashi Shirogane, Matt Holt, and Sam Holt on the Kerberos mission. I am way younger than them all, but my skills in combat, piloting, and schooling is close to or as highly ranked as Shiro and Matt's are.
Everyone was here for the mission launch, the press, families, people watching the rocket launch, you name it. The family members and friends all got to come to the launch pad before we left to say goodbye

"You'll keep my brother and Dad safe out there, right Y/n?" Kati joked and turned to me after hugging both her brother and dad.

"Of course, who else is going to." I laughed, hugging her tightly. I let go of her and turned -after feeling a tap on my shoulder- and saw my older brother, Keith. He looked sad and worried, likely because his best friend and sister were going to another planet. Keith and I both barely knew out parents, we never knew our mom and our father basically orphaned us at a young age so we lived just outside of the garrison in a small shack we had found.

"You better come back safe." He looked over to Shiro who put his hand on my shoulder.

"I'll make sure she doesn't do anything stupid." I shrugged his hand off of my shoulder, shaking my head.
"When do I ever do anything so stupid that I need a babysitter?" I looked between the two.

"Every day. In training the other day you played chicken with another ship." Keith glared, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Well, the other ship did it too. That wasn't my fault, they were taunting me." I stuck my tongue out at my brother, crossing my arms over my own chest, mocking his stance. I looked around and out of the corner of my eye saw Lance Mcclain, who was my closest friend.
"Lance!" I smiled, walking away from the two boys and over to him, "I'm glad you came." 

"You think I wouldn't?" He hugged me quickly, stopping when I'm assuming Keith started glaring at me.

"I'm gonna miss you when I go on the trip." I had to look up at him since I was a couple inches shorter than him.
I had a crush on Lance for a couple months now, I've never told him since I was scared about wrecking the friendship I had with him, he was my only friend -besides Kati who wasn't in the garrison- so if I did something to risk being friends with him then I would have no one besides Keith and Shiro and Shiro is like another brother to me.

"I'm gonna miss you too, N/n (nickname)."

"Pilots, please go to your stations."  The mission director's voice said over the intercom.

"I'll see you soon." I waved Lance goodbye, and gave one final hug to Keith and Kati before going to my station and soon after leaving Earth.
