The fire crackled as a log dropped from the top of the log tower sending a bouquet of burning sparks into the darkened skies.

Mei Mei wondered how the scouts managed to transform the basketball court into a firecamp site. She had been already been impressed when the fire was lit esrlier by a gadget that slided down a flying-fox contraption secured from the second floor of the nearby school block.

As she stood together with her fellow Girl Guides surrounding the fire, readying to present their song item, her eyes caught someone staring at her.  She had seen him earlier when their troop arrived and he was part of the welcome party.

He smiled at her and clapped his hands in encouragement. She glanced away bashfully like all good Cedar girls did.  After their performsnce, she stole a look in his direction but was disappointed that he was no longer there.

"Hi I'm James, can you autograph my song book?" James asked, popping up from nowhere. She awkwardly scribbled something and passed him hers to do the same.

The fire had cast a fiery glow litting all their excited faces. She scanned the crowd of scouts who had all stood up, getting ready to bid farewell to their guests.

That guy seemed to have vanished into thin air, Mei Mei thought before turning around to collect the song book back from James.

But James was no longer there. What was left was her song book on a bench with something planted on it. She picked it up in wonder and traced the woooden pattern on the woogle.

A thought struck her and she quickly flipped the pages. True enough, there was an entry from James and besides it, another entry with s short message:

You sang like an angel. Tom 737 1801
