Chapter 3

A/N: The only reason I keep putting these ANs is because it looks weird to me if I don't, heh. But this book will have 30-40 chapters, so don't think it's going to be over soon. Also, the ending of this book has already been finalized, so unless I find what I think is the best ending ever, it's going to stay that way.

Taehyung honestly felt terrible. Scratch that, he felt beyond terrible. How bad of a person was he to not be able to keep the one promise he'd made to his childhood best friend?

"J-Jungkook... please l-" 

Jungkook shook his head and clung onto my non-broken arm. "Taehyung... Don't go. You're the only brightness in my life."

Taehyung could only stare at Jungkook with a confused expression. Last thing Jungkook had told him was 'I hope you die,' but now he was telling him not to leave. "You're really bipolar, aren't you? Do you want me to stay or do you want me to die?" 

Jungkook looked up at Taehyung, tears falling out of his eyes. To Taehyung, this scene was all too familiar, and it broke his heart seeing the same expression on Jungkook's face. "Hyung... I wasn't thinking properly. I nearly drowned you... you..."

Taehyung couldn't stare at Jungkook anymore. He pulled him into a tight embrace and played with Jungkook's hair. "I don't need an explanation, as long as I know you're telling the truth."

Taehyung could feel Jungkook nodding his head into his chest.

Sighing Taehyung leaned slightly back. Why did he forgive him so easily? Why was there this feeling that beat every time he looked at the younger. Was the feeling returning? "Impossible.." Taehyung mumbled.

Jungkook stood up. "H-hyung? Wha-what... do you really forgive me?"

Taehyung smiled. "Of course I do. I made a promise never to make you cry... I'm sorry I broke that promise." Taehyung didn't understand though. If he was crying... then why..?

Jungkook shook his head. "You didn't make me cry, Hyung. It was my own fault. I was the one... so it's my own fault."

Jungkook lifted his arm up to brush Taehyung's cheek, and Taehyung saw something on Jungkook's wrist.

It was the bracelet he gave him all those years ago.

Swiftly, Taehyung pulled Jungkook's wrist from his face and looked at the bracelet. It was made of iron and had a crystal set to the left of the small flower design and an onyx set into the right. "You kept it..."

"Taehyung, of course I did. Did you think I just forgot about you all those years?" He asked.

Taehyung looked down and Jungkook could tell that the answer was yes without even asking the other.

"No, Taehyung. Please don't feel shame for thinking that. I should be feeling shame. I should..." He mumbled.

Sighing, Taehyung looked back up at Jungkook. "Why did you leave me then?"

Silence.

"I thought...I thought I didn't... I just thought if I could make myself popular, you'd notice me." Lie.

"I wanted your attention more, hyung."

Lie.

"I wanted you to never forget me and stay with me, so I thought I'd make myself more worthy by becoming popular."

Lie.

But lies are all that Taehyung believes. "Oh... is that it, Kookie? I'm so sorry for making you do that to yourself, I won't have that happen again..."

Nodding, Jungkook turned around to look at the clock. "It's time for me to leave. I have to go."

Taehyung hummed his agreement and stuck his hand out. "What are we now, Jungkook?"

"We're friends, and always will be."

And with that, Jungkook left the room.

Taehyung felt a sense of emptiness in him as he realized that Jungkook could never feel the same for him. 

And with that, just in time, his phone made a DING!

Taehyung groaned and reached for it, his hand missing it multiple times as he searched around the hospital's nightstand.

You have a new text message from 'YOONGI~~'

Yoongi~~: Hey Taehyung... I heard you were still in the hospital?

TaeTae: Yeah, I'm leaving in a few hours thou.

Yoongi~~: ah okay... 

Yoongi~~: can you meet me at my house?

Yoongi~~: can you meet me at m|

Yoongi~~: ca|

Yoongi~~: can you meet me at  my house?

TaeTae: sure, hyung. I'll come by when i'm released

Yoongi~~: chill you make it sound like you're in jail

TaeTae: haha. well, i have to go right now, the nurses are calling me to make sure everything is 'ABSOLUTELY FINE.'

Yoongi~~: hahah okay bye then

Yoongi~~: I love you so much Taehyung.
