The blonde man slowly made his way to his desk, fumbling through a book before smiling as he came to stand at the head of the classroom. "Good morning class. I see you all have your textbooks. Okay, now open to page 289. Today," he picked up a wand, flicking it once. The chalk sitting on the ledge of the blackboard rose, and began to write. "We are going to learn about familiars. Familiars are creatures that can be considered companions. They usually take the form of fauna, but every once in a while you'll get a friend who's familiar looks like a plant. For example," he flicked his wand again and the chalk drew a picture of small, root-like creature, with small, black eyes with pupils that glowed. "This is a baby Treeman. The Treemen are known to protect the forest, and everything in it. The babies can be summoned as familiars, and they can grow to be quite powerful." The drawing sort of looked like a radish. Round on the bottom, slowly curling up into a loose point. Its body was made of tree roots that cascaded up from the base, below its main body. It had no arms, and its stubby feet were simply curled up roots. It was an adorable looking creature. "But again, most familiars are fauna." The blonde man spoke again. "A popular one with this generation is the pixie sprite." The chalkboard erased itself and drew a small human that had wings.
"Not to be confused with fairies, which go to this school as an individual class. Besides, these are much smaller. They could sit in the palm of your hand, if you let them. Now," He smiled and snapped his fingers, the board erasing itself again. "Did you all turn to that page that I requested?" Most of the class seemed to panic, flipping through their books. I smiled up at the teacher, who looked between me and Thomas, then gave a playful wink. The page he told us to turn to was about light magic, and how to control it. It had absolutely nothing to do with familiars. Well, at least not in the book he had asked me to hand out to everyone else. "Uh, sir?" A girl raised her hand as she spoke. "I don't think this is the right page..." The man looked up. "Oh, is it not? Let me see that." The teacher went over and grabbed the book, flipping it to the cover, and beginning to chuckle. "Why miss, you have the wrong book." He chuckled. "This is Magical Teachings. The book we're using today is called Flora and Fauna; The Summoner's Plan." The books floated up and lined up along the shelf. A closet then opened up and a new set of books lay out on the desks. "Now I wonder who could have done that." He gave a grin, and it felt like the whole class had rolled their eyes, but I was just sitting there, trying to contain a fit of giggles. He was always a jokester, and I kept my book closed. Thomas looked at me and I let a chuckle slipped and shook my head. "D-Don't open the book." I managed to wheeze out without laughing. The students sighed and slowly turned their books to the second to last page of the book.
A large sound rang throughout the school. The sound waves were so strong, and the gas was so heavily compressed in the air, that the windows burst, shattering to pieces. The sound was like a loud foghorn. Everyone was hurrying out of the classroom, breathing for dear life while the teacher and I stood in the classroom, laughing like fools. "Fart gas, of course. How did I not catch that pun?" I toppled over onto the floor, rolling on the floor as the teacher let out a happy sigh, leaning against the wall. "Ah... No one in this class will ever sleep in here again. That pleases me to know." He chuckled. Thomas sat there, dumbfounded. "I... What in the world just happened?' He asked. Our desk was the only one that wasn't clouded with a foul blue gas. I smiled up at him from the floor, but then blushed and looked away. I hated that I was shy around him, yet so... naturally comfortable with everyone else. The teacher came up and helped me up off the floor. "That, my dear Thomas, was the funniest, loudest, and smelliest prank I have ever pulled, and it was all just to make sure that kids would stop sleeping in my class." He chuckled. "And it wouldn't have been possible without Rosetta here." I blushed. "P-Professor Willow, he doesn't-"
