Vanilla Nitram liked to think of herself in high regard. A woman of elegance, grace, and of good manners. A woman who could make people feel at ease. She was a fierce woman and this fact was well known. If you came into her diner any fighting or arguments would be stopped by her shooting you a quick glance that a mother would send her children to threaten them to pipe down and cause you to feel regret in your stomach like you just did something wrong. If that didn't work then she would personally escort you out. She was a woman who either had your respect due to her kindness or because of the simple fact that she would beat you silly if you got rowdy in her diner. The Barn (her diner) was her pride and joy. Something she had built up and made successful. Life was good for Vanilla. A boyfriend. An adopted daughter and a successful diner. Not bad at all. She lived in the city of Vale, nestled squarely in the Kingdom which took its name. It housed many great things from people, places and sites. Above the city was Beacon Academy its crown jewel. Beacon was renowned for its proud tradition of crafting huntress and hunters. Guardians who fought off the creatures of Grimm that ravaged the world and various other things. Vanilla should know. She was one for a brief time before retiring to start her diner. Her adoptive daughter Blu was currently in her second year there and her boyfriend taught there.
Time flew by and Vanilla's lunch rush had came and went. The dinner hour was winding down, she was in the back making some orders for a man who wanted his food to go due to a hectic late shift at the supermarket he worked in while an elderly couple sat on the far right near a window that wasn't too far from the exit. Then a few cops on their nightly patrol who were making their way out. Then a few other occupants who came for some good food. All in all it was an average night for her. That was until someone busted in through the doors and heading for the counter. Vanilla couldn't make out the person's features due to the hood of her sweatshirt hiding them but she could see the person appeared to be female judging by the outline of breasts through the sweatshirt. She placed a menu down at the counter when the girl sat down. One of her waitresses coming up to take the order. It being a girl with silver hair and blue eyes.
"Hey, welcome to The Barn. What can we get you?" The girl asked after watching the stranger read the menu. She not getting an answer back, only the stranger pointing at the objects on menu. A very large order. The stranger's stomach growled loudly a lion's roar. The young woman simple wrote down the order on her pad of stick notes, heading into the back of the diner to her boss who was kinda surprised that such a big order was ordered this late at night and only for one person.
"Looking at that order made me feel kinda fat. And I love your food." The young woman said to Vanilla as she headed back out tend to the other patrons.
"Circe trust me, I know how much you love my food. Anyway I better get started on this order." Vanilla said as she prepped the cookware within her kitchen.
Nearly half an hour later Vanilla returned to the front to see the figure in the sweatshirt has pulled down her hood. Revealing short messy black hair cut in what appeared to be a bob of sorts. Her hair came down to her chin. Dirt smeared skin stood out the most. Did the girl finish some sort of activity that required her to be this dirty? Setting many plates down that sounded off the tell-tale clank of ceramic hitting metal. This causing the girl to look up at her. Mismatched eyes met her own, the girl had beautiful eyes one green and the other orange. She looked about Blu's age. Vanilla had noticed the way she stared around the room before hungrily digging into the food like a wolf pack digging into a fresh kill. Raw, with out grace, with out needing to savor the food. Just eat and stave off the hunger. The door to the diner opened and in walked Kyle Green or simple Green as he liked to be called, her boyfriend. Vanilla motioned for him to head to the back. She wanted to ask him something. It didn't take Green long to cross the diner and into the back. A few brisk strides and done. He noticed the girl with a face all to familiar to him wolfing down food.
"Vanilla, that girl must be hungry or really loves your food." He chuckled some trying to garner a chuckle from Vanilla.
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about. She looks around Blu's age. Is she a student? Just wondering is all."
"I'm going to say no. I really think I would've remembered those eyes. I've her face somewhere before. It's too familiar?"
"Maybe she's related to an old friend of yours or something?"
"Maybe."
With that in mind Green went into the diner and sat foe beside the girl. She had now peaked his interest and he wanted to say hi. He watched her finish the large meal, stack her plates up me leave more than enough Lien to pay for the food. He going to tap her shoulder but was stopped as four people entered the dinner. Weapons in hand and masks on.
"No one move! Just hand over all the cash you've got in this place and no one gets hurt." Yelled the largest one of the would be robbers. He seemed to be the leader. Only four Green counted? This wouldn't be too hard, but he should be careful to not let anyone get shot because that alone would turn out bad. A few people in here weren't fighters of any regard. He prepared to use his semblance but stopped when the girl took a steak knife that was on of the plates in the stack hide it under her sleeve and put it it the one of the robber's throats after he tried to grab the lien she put down to pay. It had happened so first Green did a double take. Vanilla and Circe in the kitchen had begun to take action but stopped as well.
The girl eyed the three other men quickly without pause, she scanning the room for weapons. She left hers behind the diner's dumpster. She pushing the man way after taking his gun and quickly emptying some of the bullets at the man. His aura flickered away after a few shots. She leapt and punched him in the jaw hard. He hitting the checkered tiles on the floor and groaning into unconsciousness. The other three men looking at their friend before rushing the person who just laid him out flat. She firing the rest of what remained in the handgun's magazine at the three of them, trying to get their auras to drop. Three colors in total flickered amongst the men before the handgun was smashed into the nearest one's face like a bat hitting a ball sending it out of the bark. In short the punk's aura faded and after a follow up gun bash to the side of his head he wasn't a happy camper that was until a fist made of what appeared to be steel collided with his jaw knocking him out.
"You assholes better hold it right there and give it up before the cops come ya know. The more you fight the worse the charges will be." Said Circe, a grin on her face. Out of the corners of her eyes she could see Vanilla and Green trying to strike the would be thieves only to stop moving as one grabbed the elderly woman who came with her husband. A gun to temple.
"You fucks better hand over the money or this leathery old woman gets it. I'm not playing. I will shoot her brains out all over the floor. Give me the money." The leader said as his friend scrambled to get the old man.
"You really didn't need to get hostages involved. I'm sure if we all calm down we can all get what we want." Said Green, attempting to get them to lower their weapons enough for him and Vanilla to take them down.
The robber looked at each other then to the combatants trying to fight them off. Neither were willing to lower their weapons until they suddenly became heavy in their hands, the mystery girl's hands were outstretched the elderly couple seemed to being pulling away from the arms of their captors. It wasn't long until they they were being rugged toward Green and Circe who caught them and began to check them over. Vanilla and the mystery girl moved fast. A few choice staff blows to the head and torso sent one to the ground. Strikes to the chest and ribs of the other man sent him to the ground with a groan. When he tried to move there was a sickening snap and a cry, the girl had broke his leg before he could realize it, he blacking out from the pain.
Vanilla sighed as she pushed the robbers into one big huddle as her weapon appeared to change into a lasso like form as she tied them up and called the cops.
Green looked at the girl again before realizing she was a near carbon copy of his old friend Maka. The last he saw of her was when she told she was having a baby, but he was told she died of complications after giving birth to the baby girl he learned was named Capreila and that the baby had died not long after the mother. He went to the wake. He saw Maka's body. He went to the funeral, he saw her get placed six feet under ground in a wood box. So why was this girl who looked like his friend able to fight like her? Either he was lied to about the baby dying or this was a relative who shared some similar traits. Either way he would find out.
(And with that, I'll leave part 1 on a cliff hanger. Green belongs to my Kyle, Blu and Vanilla belong to my friend Iz. Thanks for reading.)
