Chapter 5

"Your family is insane" Jacob tells Seth as they sit in the living room, attempting to watch tv. The teen wolves and Elliot run around in the backyard, chasing after my older kids(poor Max stood no chance) while my vampire family hunts. I suck on a blood bag as I cook dinner for everyone, all while balancing Olive on my hip. The triplets sleep soundly upstairs and the twins are coloring at the kitchen table. The family has been here for two days, and it has been so easy to fall back into our old routine. No more running, and no more having to deal with my psycho mother and aunt. I know what you're thinking, but it's different this time... or at least that's what I'm telling myself. "Mommy, is the fwood almost weady?" Olive groans dramatically, her little head laying on my shoulder. I stir the pasta around one last time and click off the stove burner. "Just one more last touch... and done!" I say as I flick a pinch of basil on top. "Down down! I'll go get evwy body!" She shouts and I place her down to watch her run out the back door. I step into the living room and sneak up behind Seth on the couch. I peck his cheek and whisper, "foods ready gorgeous". He turn and meets my lips and we kiss. For way longer than usual apparently because Jake clears his throat. "Shut up dog." I say with a smirk and throw a pillow at him. He grimaces and tries to throw one back but I stop it with my mind and turn it around to hit him right in the center of his face. I blow him a sarcastic kiss for effect. Seth chuckles and takes my hand, leading me into the kitchen where the kids have taken their spots at the table. "Alright! Whose hungry?" I grin and wiggle my eyebrows. I receive the usual band of screams in return. "Okay okay. It's coming, I only have so many hands." I joke back. "Use your magic mommy!" Spencer exclaims and I laugh because she knows I never use my magic. "Come on mommy please!" Max interjects. I look into their puppy dog eyes and cave. "Oh I don't know, you mean like this?" I start and fling the plates into their place from across the room. "Yes! That's what I'm talking about!" Emmet cheers from the back door. I blush and hand serve them their drinks. "I told you!" My dad says shooting a glance at Nessie. "What are you two gambling now?" I ask and shake my head. "Well, I told her that you are easily the most powerful, non dangerous vampire in the world. And Ness didn't really have an argument but likes to argue." He responds and I laugh. "Just a mom with a hot husband and ten kids." I joke back and Alice pretends to gag. "What? He is much better looking then Jake." I say seriously. "Touché" She giggles and kisses my head. "Hey! We are still here!" Jake says, his arms wrapped around Nessie. I shrug and stick out my tongue at him. "My silly girl." Seth soothes into my ear and drags me to the couch. "Not now." I repeat eying the kids. He chuckles and whispers, "tonight then." The rest of the vamps join us in the living room and I stand up quickly. "In a hurry to get to bed?" Emmet nudges. "In your dreams E. I'm going to get the babies." I laugh and point upstairs. The triplets cry right in cue and he shakes his head in disbelief. "I'll help!" Esme almost shouts in excitement and we all laugh. We are about half way upstairs when Esme says, " you're doing a great job you know. With your kids, and everything else." I smile and give her a tight hug. "Thanks for never going completely insane on me." I grin crookedly and she laughs. "Let's get those babies." She grins and speeds into the nursery. "Hello babies!" I coo and scoop up the boys, knowing Sophie is the most easy going. I look at my beautiful, human triplets and smile. "How do you feel about giving them an impromptu bath?" I ask and she practically runs into the bathroom. "Did I hear bath time?" Alice chimes, walking into the bathroom with three matching sleepers and towels. I laugh and hand her a naked Mason. "Ugh I could just eat you up!" She coos, kissing his cheek. "Don't you dare." I joke and she rolls her eyes before walking to the bathroom. "Liam, you know, you got the normal mom in the family. Can you imagine growing up with these people. I can't personally because I missed out on that period of family history... but! I turned out brilliantly if you ask me so just remember that when you're a teenager." I ramble as I walk into the bathroom. His cheek twitches but I'm pretty sure it's just because he I cold. I walk in to see Esme squirting a rubber duck at Alice and the babies straight chilling in their baby baths. "What on earth! Do I have five children in this room?" I grin and half joke. "Sorry mom." Alice responds and soaps Mason down. "I forgive you." I crack and place Liam in the last bath tub. "So, I was thinking.." Alice starts and I groan. "Please, please no shopping! PLEASE!" I beg her and she frowns. "Well I was really just asking to be polite. We are going Christmas shopping tomorrow." She states flat out and wraps Mason in a towel before kneeling on the ground to put lotion on him. I stare at her and say, "First of all it's not even winter yet. It's back to school. And second tomorrow is Sunday, a day reserved for god and family." I grin and she quickly refutes, "Well considering that you have never stepped foot in a church in your short little life, we will be ignoring that standard." I put Liam's diaper on him and button up his onesie. "Fine, but brief, and if anyone asks Esme is my grandma." I settle. "I am way too young to be a grandma!" Esme yelps and I chuckle pulling Liam back into my arms. "No you are way to old to be alive technically." I finish and take Sophie and Mason before walking out of the room and back into the nursery. "What are you doing! These outfits are amazing!" Alice says, complimenting herself. "Maybe, but it's freezing outside so..." I state and zip up the warm sleepers. "You my friend, are a pain. You know that right?" She says and I nod handing her a baby. "It's one of my crowning glories." I smile and walk back downstairs and into the kitchen with Sophie and Mason in each of my arms.
