Harper P.O.V
"Where the hell am I?" I whispered as I sat up in a room I didn't recognize.I looked over to my left and saw Jaxton starting to wake up, "Hey." He yawned.
"What exactly happened last night?" I asked as I leaned for my phone.
"Well, clearly something very interesting if we ended up back here. I'm joking, you got a little drunk and forgot how to get home so I let you crash here." He chuckled.
I looked down at my phone and I had 11 missed calls from dad and two from my sister Olivia and a text from her saying, I got your dumb ass covered.
I sighed with relief, "I really gotta go Jaxton, it was nice meeting you."
"Why so soon? Can I at least have your number? You know so I can take you on actual date sometime." He handed me his phone and I entered my number.
"See you around." I waved as I left.
I got down out of his apartment and checked my purse and luckily I had my keys and apparently I drove over here which probably wasn't completely legal. I got into my car and called Olivia.
"Hello?"
"Hey Olivia, it's me."
"Oh, the girl who disappeared last night?" She laughed.
"Haha very funny, what happened with dad?"
"Well, around 11 last night he called me and said you two had gotten into a fight and he hadn't seen you since and that you weren't picking up your phone. I assumed you found an old friend or something so I covered your butt and said you were at my place for the night."
"I owe you one Olivia, thank you."
"Anything for my sister, but where were you anyways?"
"I was down at Underwater catching up with some old friends and I accidently left my phone on silent." I lied because she would freak out if found out I hooked up with guy my first day back.
"Okay, but next time, let me know before hand so I can have a better excuse for you ready."
"Will do, I have to go home ad confront Dad, love you."
"Goodluck, love you too."
I hung up and threw my phone in my purse, and I set my head down on the steering wheel. Maybe Mom was right about my drinking problem, she was concerned about my health before she left and now I understand why.
I took my time driving back home and started mentally preparing myself for the tongue thrashing from my dad I was about to receive. I quietly entered through the back door and saw that no one was in the kitchen so I took it as my chance to sneak up to my room. As I passed the kitchen counter I saw a big yellow envelope with my name on it, I grabbed it and kept going. I reached the stairs just as Ethan was coming down. Out of Julia's sons Ethan is my favourite because he is the most tolerable probably because he is only 11. I gave him a death glare.
"Shhhhh." I whispered to him.
"Ray she is back!" He screamed in an annoying high pitched voice.
I rolled my eyes, "Just a little FYI, you're not my favourite anymore."
He laughed evilly, "I don't believe that because I'm not as mean as Greg and Luke."
I kept going up the stairs hoping to avoid my dad but nope he was already there waiting for me. And the look on his face told me I should try and watch my sarcasm.
"Where were you? You had me scared!" He yelled at me and it echoed through the entire house.
"Funny how you were scared about my disappearance, but not mom's." I said sarcastically.
I know, that probably wasn't the best thing to say, but any chance I get to get under his skin and use the whole situation against him, I take it.
"Harper, this isn't a joking matter, and you need to answer my question." He gave me a stern look.
"Fine, I was with Olivia because out of this messed up family, she is the only one who cares about my feelings and well-being." And with that I went into my room and locked it.
I sat down on my bed and opened the envelope. It was my letter of acceptance to be a student teacher at Cryptic High School, it is my final year of having to student teach and I'll be able to graduate. This is probably the best news I've gotten in a while. Also enclosed in the envelope was the schedule of classes I'll be working with and the papers I have to complete while there.
"Well for at least 10 hours of the day I get to avoid these people." I laughed at my own joke.
