Chapter Three

Our train made it's destination to Peak City. I stopped Asha and Car on our way off board. I was going to try and convince them to go home but I was already reassured they weren't going anywhere by the look in their eyes. We began to walk ahead amongst the traffic and people. It was enough to blend in case the agents beat us to Peak City. I thought it would be easy finding Sineco but I was proven wrong by the tall buildings with thousands of names. I turned to face Asha and Car.

"We aren't going to find Sineco together. We need to split up. If any of us find it call immediately. Do not go in without one another. Understood?" I explained.

Asha and Car nodded in agreement. We all took different blocks. I went ahead from where we walked off the train station beginning to analyze the buildings for a Sineco label. There was nothing for a good couple blocks before I got Car's call telling me he spotted the building. From the tone in his voice, it was a bad find.

The three of us regrouped where Car was a few blocks west of the train station. We found Sineco...but it was no longer Sineco.

"Well that was a waste of time," Car said looking up at the tall building.

"Car," Asha reprimanded. Car gave her a shrug and put his hands on his hips.

"What do we do now Evan?" Car paused noticing that I was analyzing the alley way across the street, "Evan?"

I began to walk across the street. There was someone watching us from the window as if he knew we were coming. Car and Asha chased after me and shortly looked up at the window only to see it close. Whoever it was didn't want us there and was getting ready to lock up against us.

I reached the top of the stairs counting the doors to get to the correct one. Upon noticing the right door, Car didn't hesitate to knock on it forcefully. Asha glared at him and he widened his eyes pounding even harder.

"That's it," Car said getting ready to kick the door in. I stopped his leg from reaching the door and went to twist the handle. As expected, the door was unlocked.

I raised an eyebrow at Car who shrugged and walked his way in. I followed Car in and Asha fell in behind us. I saw furniture scattered and papers flying everywhere. I know the man I saw standing in the window couldn't have disappeared quickly. There didn't seem to be an escape route in the building other than the front door.

"We know you're in here," Car yelled hunting around solid places to hide. I shot a glare at Car for his lack of stealth.

I made it over to the window where the man was viewing us from the street. I turned back to Asha and Car and sighed as they did too. Just as I was about to give up, I saw a cracked closet in the corner and the gleam of an eye.

"Scott? Scott Manor?" I asked walking towards the closet.

"I don't know who you are or what you want but you better leave now before I call the police," he threatened.

"Scott, please, we aren't here to cause any trouble. It's me. Evan. Evan Parker. You worked with my father on a project many years ago. I need your help," I explained.

There was a pause before Scott came out of the closet to approach me. I didn't know Scott that well so there was a matter of trusting him after all these years. In a way, I grew up feeling he was to blame for my father getting killed.

"Evan Parker," Scott said walking carefully towards his desk, "Your his son?"

I noticed he was going for a cabinet close to Asha and my eyes grew wide with fear and I shouted at Car, "Car the cabinet!"
