It has been days since the battle at Monmouth, and no Templar has laid eyes on Connor. That is both a blessing, and a curse.

The few remaining Templars has resided in Fort George after Charles forced a retreat of Washington's men, though the ignorant Commander allowed him to go without treason. Of course, it was good for the Order, but quite foolish on their part. And yet, with everything crazy going on, there is still some madness to add.

Clarke paces the halls of a building in Fort George, fiddling with her fingers. She has yet to see Haytham or Charles today, though when she ran into Shay she practically begged him to chase down Lee. She seemed nervous, for he girl couldn't sit still.

Finally - finally - the two Templars enter the building to see the short haired girl stop quickly. The short, blonde hair suited her quite well, though it automatically took off a few years the moment she cut it. Not that she needed it.

"Are you alright?" Charles asks quickly. "You look stressed, and Shay says you asked for me. Do you need something? Anything? Would you like us to speak in private or-"

"No," she shakes her head quickly. "No, I'm alright. Well, not really. I just... I need to talk to you two. I don't want to go and tell Haytham first, he might get mad. God, the thought of it makes me sick."

"What on earth are you on about, love?" Shay asked, raising an eyebrow. "Have you gone a bit mad?"

"Maybe," she admits, eyes flickering down to her hands. Her stomach was in knots, she had no idea how to say what she needed. "I saw a doctor this morning, though."

"You did?" Charles questioned. "Are you sick?"

"Just... stop asking questions, okay? You're making this more difficult." Her blue eyes then moved to the ceiling, feeling her hands beginning to shake a bit as the knot in her stomach grew. She didn't know why this made her so nervous, these men are her family. "I uh... I've been really sick lately. I didn't want to tell anyone, because you'd all get worried. Like normal. B-But uh... you both know... I mean, I hope you know, that Haytham and I are... well, an item. And we're very close and um... I don't know," she shakes her head, a hand moving to push back her hair. "Let me just - okay. Okay I got it. I'll just tell you, okay? Are you ready?"

Both men nod, completely and utterly confused. Was she going to leave the Grand Master? What was going on?

"I-It's um... well, was, very unlikely because of his age but me being me... dammit, sorry, I'll say it. I'm pregnant."

Both men froze, unsure of how to respond to this new information. Clarke? And Haytham? She's pregnant. They're going to have a baby. A baby! But they were in the middle of a war with... well, everyone! They couldn't raise a baby!

"You're... pregnant?" Is the first thing Charles says, receiving a nod in response. Slowly, a smile breaks across his face. "That's incredible!" Without further hesitation, he wrapped his arms around the girl and hugged her, lifting her up as he did so. He wasn't a cold hearted man as most though, in fact he was quite excited to have a baby running around! A little Kenway, one that looked like Clarke and behaved like the Grand Master. It would be beautiful.

"Have you told anyone else?" Shay asks, the girl shaking her head.

"No, you're the first I told. I don't know how I'm going to tell Haytham, I don't even know how far along I am. The doctor guessed that I'm fairly early, since I'm not showing much. But... I am showing."

"Really?" Charles looked at her, getting a nod in response. Slowly, the girl lifted her uniform to show her belly. And sure enough, it was bigger than normal. Not by much, but it looked like she was pushing her stomach out. "And to think, I thought you were putting on some weight! You know what this means, don't you?"

"What?"

"George Washington is bound to attack soon, we all know this. You can't be here when he does, they won't hesitate to attack you. And with a baby in your stomach, its law they can't touch you. You need to get out of here, you and Haytham both. Go some place safe and hide out there."

"I can't just leave you!" She exclaimed, looking up at him. "I'm not leaving you for Connor to kill, none of you are going to die because of him. I know he's after you, I can't let him have his way."

"But listen," the older man practically begged, holding Clarke'a shoulders. "My dear, you're carrying a baby in your stomach. You and Haytham have done something incredible, you've made life. No other in the entire world can ever hope to do what you two have done. I cannot just allow you to put your life on the line as well as the child's. Please, I beg you, stay safe. That includes Haytham, that baby needs a father."

"I'm not going to let it die, Charles. I just made a promise to myself that I wouldn't lose anyone else important to me. I don't know what it'd do if you died and I was there to help. So please don't make me leave. I want to stay and fight."

The man seemed to ponder on how to respond, it taking a good minute to finally speak. "Go find Haytham, tell him the big news. Once you do, come find us and we will leave with you. God forbid that they attack and we are unable to meet up at the front gates, I will find you. Understand?"

Clarke nods, stepping forward to hug him tightly. "Thank you."  With a light chuckle, she feels him hug back.

"Now go find the Grand Master alright? I'm sure he'd love to hear." He didn't have to tell her twice, for she was extremely excited to tell her lover the big news.

And yet, curse every god there was, the moment she exited the building, the whole Fort shook and the sound of canons going off reached their ears. Charles and Shay were knocked to the ground, a ringing forming in their ears.

God damn you, Connor Kenway.
