"So do you think you'll be the chosen one?" Cali asked while bumping my shoulder. "Huh?" I said confused.
"She means do you think you'll be the one to finally take the job." Jackie asked, rolling her eyes at Cali.
"I hope so, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up." I said shrugging. Jackie, Cali, and I were walking to the restaurant, I didn't need a resume (a.k.a me skipping it cause idk what's on a resume or if I'm even spelling it right) all I needed was the phone number of any previous waitress jobs.
"And here we are, Southern Home Cooking." Jackie says as we walk in. Inside it looked really busy, there was a handful of teens all wearing the same tshirt so probably a field trip, and 4 or 5 older couples. Suddenly a waiter ran up to Jackie and Cali and they all hugged each other.
"Where have you guys been? It's been like a month since I've seen either of you!" The guy says when they pull away.
"We're sorry James. But we wanted to introduce our friend to you, she just moved here from Tennessee. This is Toni." Cali says gesturing to me.
"Hi I'm James." He says nervously, he suddenly became really shy.
"I'm Toni. It's nice to meet you." I said.
"Toni here actually wants to work here." Jackie says.
"Good luck with that. Hi I'm Jackson." A guy says coming towards us. "It's been awhile since we've had a girl waitress." He winks at me then walks off to another table.
"Well Toni I wish you luck. The owners are behind the register." James said before walking to the kitchen.
"Thank you. I'll be right back, gonna try my best."

I took a deep breath. I actually got it, on the effing spot. I felt myself start grinning as I looked at the shirt. I heard the door open and Mrs. Graves, the owner, walked in.
"Thank you so much for hiring me Mrs. Graves." I said standing up and shaking her hand.
"Oh don't worry about it, you seem like a nice girl and the other jobs you worked at backed that up. Can you start tomorrow?" She asked. I quickly nodded, we bid goodbye and she left. I folded the shirt and hide it in my jacket and put a rejected look on my face. When I walk out I see Jackie and Cali sitting at a booth. I walk over and sadly say, "Hey guys."
"Did you not get it? I thought you would of been perfect for this job." Cali says.
"They did to, that's why I'm starting tomorrow." I say smiling while slamming the shirt on the table. Their jaws drop, Jackie grabs me and hugs the life out of me.
"I freaking knew you could do it."Jackie says.
"2 days you've lived here and you already have a job. While I've lived here my entire life and it took me 2 years to find a job." Cali pointed out giggling.
"Oh! I forgot to tell you, I'm having a huge party for my birthday. And even though you can't drink, I want you to come. You can meet a couple of our friends." Jackie said bouncing in her seat. "It's next Sunday so I hope you have party clothes. Like glittery skirts and crop tops. That kind of thing."
"Plus it might be a good idea to have you there with your ass-kicking skills." Cali added. Jackie rolled her eyes and scoffed.
"Wait, why?" I asked leaning forward, propping my head up on my hands.
"This bitch always crashes her parties. She'll hit on some guy and vanishes to have sex with him somewhere. The last party Alex had to hold Jackie back from kicking her ass. It was great." Cali said leaning back and holding her stomach as she laughed.
"Yeah yeah, it was freaking hilarious. Anyway we've got to go. See you later Toni." Jackie said as she and Cali started scooting out of the booth.
"Wait! Do you guys have a key to Alex's apartment?" I asked as they stood up.
"Oh, yeah. You can just borrow mine until Alex gets you one." Jackie said digging through her purse until she pulls out a keyring out. She grabs one key that is bright green with yellow flames.
"Thank you, I'll see you guys later."
