Chapter 19: New Jobs and Admiration

🎀Spring's P.O.V🎀

The other day, when the pack was at Alpha's house, Aphmau told me about her friend Cadenza and that she has a new store with job vacancies.

She also told me that all the clothes in there are designed by Cadenza herself and that she could probably use a helping hand so I decided to go there today.

I also made sure to bring my portfolio of design ideas with me to show Cadenza so that hopefully she'll let me design for her.

I walk down the street scanning to shop names until I reach the place I'm looking for.

Cadenza's.

The name is simple and it works. I like it.

I walk in and the bell chimes signifying a new customer.

A young man, who looks only a few years older than me, looks up from the cash register that he was working at and smiles at me.

I don't know why but my heart rate seems to speed up when that happens.

I snap out of it and walk over to him.

"Hi, my name is Spring. I'm a friend of Aphmau and Aaron's and they told me about this place. I was wondering if I could speak to Cadenza?" I ask the man.

I notice that he's wearing a name plate and take a glance at it.

Vylad.

"Sure, we're not to busy today so I'm sure it'll be fine. Just wait her a minute." Vylad replies.

A few moments later a girl with hair that looks like fire walks out from the back, a pencil behind her ear. She must have been sketching some new ideas. I'm guessing that she's Cadenza.

"Hello, my name's Cadenza." She says and we shake hands. I thought so.

"Spring." I reply and smile.

"So, what did you want to see me about? Vylad told me that you're a friend of Aphmau and Aaron." She asks.

"Yes. I'm in Aaron's pack actually. I came here because I'm interested in the fashion industry and they recommended you to me. They also mentioned that you have job vacancies so I was wondering if I could apply for one." I explain.

"Sure. Of course you can." She replies and then looks at the portfolio in holding. "Are those your designs?" She adds.

"Yes and I was hoping that you'd have a look at them." I reply and hold out my portfolio for her to take and look through.

She takes it out of my hands and motions for me to follow her. She leads me to the back room which is staff only and sits down on one of a table with a pile of paperwork and design ideas on.

I sit down opposite to her as she skins through my ideas and watch as she smiles at a my designs.

She puts the portfolio on the table in front of me and proceeds to say.

"They're very good designs and I can tell that you have a bold style from your designs and also what you're wearing. I'd be delighted to have you working here Spring. For now I'll need you working out in the shop with Vylad and my brother Laurance as the shop is growing in popularity. But eventually I'll have you working as a designer. Is that okay with you?" She announces.

I nod my head in response and she smiles at my happiness.

"You'll start the day after tomorrow as it's Saturday today and we're closed on Sundays for the moment. However, I can get Vylad to show you how things work here so that you're prepared."

"That sounds great to me!" I reply cheerily.

"Good. I look forwards to working with you." Cadenza comments and holds out her hand for me to shake.

We shake hands and she leads me back over to Vylad who has just finished serving some customers.

"Vylad. I'd like to introduce you to Spring here. She'll be working with us in a few days time and she's a part of Aaron's pack." Cadenza introduces.

"Nice to meet you Spring. I take it that I'm going to be showing you around?" He asks and I nod my head.

"I'll get Laurance to work at the cash register." Cadenza comments and then walks off.

The next hour or so is spend with Vylad showing me around the shop so that I know what's where and how things work.

We've also been getting to know each other and I found out that his full name is Vylad Ro'Meave, that he lives with his two brothers Garroth and Zane, that he's friends with Aaron and Aphmau, that Cadenza is his brother Garroth's girlfriend and that he's just come back him from travelling for a few years.

I told him that I have an older sister name Dottie who is also a part of Aaron's pack, that I'm hoping to become a top designer one day and that I'm moving in on the next street from Aaron and Aphmau and I guess also him too.

Even though I've only known him for a day, I feel like I want to learn so much more about him, like some unknown force is drawing me to him.

Once I arrive at the house I currently share with my older sister I walk past the stacks of moving boxes and into my room where I continue to pack up the last of my things.

The move is only in a few days after all and that means that in a few days I'll be closer to everyone, my pack, my newfound friends and him.

What will happen between Spring and Vylad?

How will Spring's new job go?

And how will the pack get along in their new house near to their old and new friends?
