Palms sweaty, feet tapping on the wooden floor, making it squeak, heart racing, thoughts wandering. Amid all this nervousness, Cara's heart is in the right place. She stands in front of Jim's door, her right fist clenched, considering knocking.

She wishes someone could rescue her from this situation, but Cara doesn't believe in knights in shining armor. She learned the truth about clichés after losing her virginity to Jax at a high school camping trip, only for him to boast about it, making her the talk of Redwood Prep. Plus, her forever knight, Martin Green, is dead.

Despite the bad breakups, Cara still believes in love—just not fairy tales. She believes in the love her parents shared and yearns to experience that. Maybe that's why Jax and other jerks managed to hurt her, but they rarely get away with it. Lionel barely escaped their relationship after Cara ran him over with her bike—one of the reasons she loves her bike. Jax got a knee to the groin and a dunk in a toilet.

Sadly, no one saves Cara, so she finally knocks after minutes of hesitation. A light knock first, then a louder one.

"Come in," Jim yells from inside. Cara takes a deep breath and twists the doorknob with her un-clenched hand.

She walks into the dim office, the wooden floor creaking with each step. The space is poorly maintained, with peeling blue paint, dirt, a malfunctioning fan, and a suffocating atmosphere. Cara feels nauseous, the combination of her anxiety and the grim surroundings overwhelming.

"What? Did the drinks run out at the bar?" Jim's loud voice fills the room. Cara only comes here to restock drinks or collect her salary. She never imagined she'd be standing before Jim, offering herself.

"No," Cara replies. She could end this, but that would mean ending her mom's chance at surgery.

"Then what, hot stuff?" Jim asks, a smirk forming as he comes closer. He's seen many young women nervous before offering themselves, and Cara is no different. But he wants to hear her say it.

Cara fights back the urge to vomit as he approaches, urging her to speak.

"I—I want..." She pauses, clears her throat, and tries again. "I want to ask if the other part of this job is available." Jim's smile widens, revealing his true nature.

Jim only thinks about the money Cara will make him. His clients have seen Cara at the bar and offered a fortune to take her to their hotel, but she had always refused. Jim never thought Cara would be the one in front of him with this offer. He finds her stubborn, but he's not about to play father figure. He's just glad she's here and won't ruin it.

Cara can't believe she said those words. The smugness on his face repulses her. To make matters worse, he grabs her butt with a smirk.

She wants to slap him and break his nose, but she remains still until he releases her. Her anger simmers beneath the surface, but she controls it.

"Well, well, well." Jim steps back, giving Cara space as he sits down. "My clients have been dying to have a piece of you." He speaks the truth. Another truth is that Jim himself desires Cara, his bulge pressing painfully against his pants as he touched her. He sits down to regain control, although Cara's allure is tempting. He plans to jerk off thinking about her once she leaves.

Cara is beautiful, no man would disagree. Apart from her face, she has an hourglass figure and well-shaped thighs. Her lack of cleavage doesn't detract from her allure, though.

"Look, I just need the cash now." Cara feels compelled to explain, more to herself than to Jim, reminding herself why she's enduring this humiliation.

"Don't we all," Jim mocks.
