Luke's POV.

I've been healing pretty nicely. It's been a few weeks since we made it to the beach house. I've decided I needed to talk to Kayla's parents if I'm gonna set this right. I was planning on letting her call them today.

I get up and go out to the kitchen where I start making sandwiches for everyone. I felt so helpless not being able to do anything the past week. So far my dad doesn't know where we are.

"Guys, lunch is ready!" I yell out to them. They were sitting on the porch. They come in and sit at the table. When their done eating and start putting their dishes away I call Kayla over. We go into my room.

She looks uncomfortable around me, and I can't blame her.

"we need to talk," I say, looking into her eyes. She immediately looks away. I sigh on the inside. I'm stupid for ever doing this to her life. Yeah, my life sucks, but why did I have to ruin hers?

"So I've decided that I need to call your parents, let them know that you're okay. You can talk to them too. I'm gonna try and make a deal with them." I say, staring into her beautiful eyes.

Her eyes light up. "really? What the deal?"

"I'm gonna see if they will help pay my dad to get us off your back. I'm also gonna see if I can get their help to get him in jail, where he belongs. I don't want to out anyone else in your situation. So...here," I say, holding out her phone.

She hesitates for a second, and I can see her thinking. She takes the phone and dials in the number. She starts talking and crying and saying "I'm fine, I love you, I miss you, " the normal stuff. She explained the situation, then eventually they asked to talk to me.

At first they were mad and yelling at me and ready to call the cops. After a while I finally explained the situation and calmed them down.

"I need your help. If you can pay my father enough money he will leave her alone and I will take her home. We will also get the cops involved so that you get your money back and he goes to jail." we planned for a while, then I gave the phone to Kayla and let her say goodbye. I'm gonna be letting her stay in contact regularly.

I left the room when she finished because she was crying really bad. She stayed in there the rest of the day. Eventually night came around and I took a shower and went into the room. Kayla was fast asleep on the bed. I stand there for a second, then think, why not? I don't have much to lose. She probably hates me anyway.

I lay down next to her and out my arm around her. I'm so sorry. Is what went through my mind repeatedly. I wish I never did this, but it's in the past. Now I have to worry about the present so I can make the future better. I fall asleep with her in my arms.

***

I wake up to Kayla's eyes staring at me, and I jump with fear. God, that scared me to death.

"good morning," I say, taking my arms off her and blushing. I look away so she hopefully doesn't see.

"good morning...." she says, a but awkward. "um...I just wanted to say thank you, for you know, letting me talk to my parents."

"don't thank me...I shouldn't have ever taken you in the first place. I should have never put you in thus situation." I say, mad at myself.

"it's not your fault, " she says, catching me off guard.

"wha...What?" I say, confused. Of course it is. I kidnapped her.

"it's not your fault. Your dad made you do it. He is a bad man."

I'm silent for a while. How could she even say that? She should blame me for everything, hate me with all her guts. But she doesn't..

Suddenly she pecks me on the lips, and my face heats up. She gets up and leaves without a word. I'm speechless. Did that really just happen...?
