-W... where are we going?- I ask when I notice we are walking out of the school.
-Lake Burkey...- he says, now with a smile.
-Lake B...Burley Griffin?
-Aye, that's what I meant.
-Why?- I ask, but I'm still walking next to him.
-Just because... isn't that fun?- and when I see him smile again I forget about everything, I don't care if I get suspended if I will be able to say that I was the reason for that smile.
He helps me climb the metallic grid and then he climbs it by himself, (Good Lord, thank you for making skinny jeans for men a thing), and then we walk until we find the closest part of the lake, that is gigantic.
-Woah, this is amazing! Isn't it crazy that nature makes such beautiful things?- he asks me with a cute glow of amazement in his eyes.
-Well, this lake is artificial. I...It was human made... completed in 1963.
How do I know that? In 1963 Please Please Me, by The Beatles was released and I remember that date since ever.
-Woah, you are really smart, aren't you?- he says, laying his elbows on the security bars next to the lake, they are there so people don't jump in, I guess.
I blush and smile. A normal girl would keep the conversation and act cute... but all I can think about is that I. Am. Talking. To him!
-Hey, can I ask you some questions?- he asks, looking at me, smiling, shining brighter than the sun and giving me a warm feeling inside. He irradiates confidence,
-Sure... I mean, I can try to answer...- I say, looking at the lake, trying to make him look at it too, but he is still staring at me. My hands are sweaty now.
-What's your name?- he asks.
-Anna... Anna Jacks.
-Nice... "Anna", now the next question has been killing me since the first moment I saw you...
Would you marry me? Yes. Yes, I would...
-Yes?- I ask blushing.
-Were you planning to talk to me or you just felt like staring at me all day long?
And now I don't have an answer. I just blush.
-Well, I... I was trying to but...-I say nervously and then I freeze. Is he... is that a...? Oh, holly goat... yes it is. -Do you smoke?- I ask, kind of bothersome.
I hoped with all my body and soul for him to answer "No, it's only a metaphor" but he lighted the cigarette and sucked with his perfect lips.
-Yup... want one?
-Ugh... no? N...Now Miles, could you please walk me back to school? We have a test in an hour and I bet you didn't study...- I said, walking back to the school.
Oh, he smokes!
That could kill him... and the worst part is... is that... He looks so hot when he is smoking!
(I must admit that it has been the best and longest conversation I have ever had with a guy... with a real one.)
