Blake's Pov

Maya raced up to me. She tripped halfway but didn't cry. She just stood back up and kept running. She's a good sport. All her siblings cried at this age every single time they tripped.

"Mom!" She cheered.

"Hey, Maya!" I kneeled down to be on the same level as her.

"Guess what?!"

"What?"

"I drew a picture for you!" She squealed.

"Ooh! May I see it?"

"Yeah!" Maya pulled off her little blue backpack with stars on it and opened it up. A few seconds later she tugged out a wrinkled paper. She handed it to me with a huge smile.

I looked at the picture and I grinned. It was a cute little chibi drawing of our family. Maya was quite the artist, so even at her age, I could understand what she was trying to draw.

"It's so pretty!" I patted her on the back.

"Yay!" She swung her backpack back onto her and then we headed home. Sun was picking up the other kids from the elementary. Maya is three, so she's still in daycare.

Home wasn't very far away and the path was safe, so I always let Maya wander a bit. She normally ends up either ten feet ahead or behind me. She reminds me of me. Long black hair, black cat ears, and independent. But, instead of reading all the time, she draws. Her eyes are a blue, like her father's. Her older brother is six and her older sister is ten. Maya's brother is Teo. He looks just like Sun, with the tail and everything. Nowadays, fauness are free. We are treated just the same as humans. Maya is very proud of her cat ears, so I do have to tell her to quit bragging sometimes. Maya's older sister is Evie. She has very dark brown hair and hazel eyes. She is not a fauness, but that's okay. Her great great grandmother was a human, so there was a chance there would be a human born somewhere in the line.

When we got home, Maya threw her backpack on the ground and started talking on and on about everything that happened at "school". I made an afterschool snack as she did so. When she finally sat down and ate, I picked up her backpack and pulled out her homework folder. It was a review sheet. The kids in her class should know what everything on the paper was. I grabbed a pencil and brought the paper over to her. The second Maya saw it, she stood up and said, "I have to go to the bathroom."

"Maya, get back here. It's just a review sheet."

"But, Mom! I wanna play!"

"Remember what the rules are? When you come home, you can tell stories, then you eat a snack, then you do your homework, then you can play."

"Yeah." She stared at her toes for a minute and then came back over to the table. We sat down together and went over the paper. She was finished within five minutes. I checked over her work and it looked pretty accurate. It was just a review of colors and shapes and simple stuff like that.

I played dolls with Maya for ten minutes before I heard the front door open and shut and tons of talking. Maya shot up, raced out of her room, walked down the stairs, and then ran right into her father. I walked down and greeted everyone.

"Mom! Guess what?!" Teo shouted. All three kids did that phrase almost every day.

"What, Honey?"

"I won today's spelling contest!"

"That's fantastic!"

"Yeah! And I got a strawberry lolli-pop!"

"Yum!"

I turned towards Evie. "How was your day, Sweetie?"

"It, well, it was good."

"Anything fun happen?"

"Um, I guess. Terry tripped over a rock and her knees started bleeding so she had to go to the nurse."

"Ouch!" Then I turned to Sun. "How was your day?"

"Good! I am working on a great project right now!"

"Ooh, what is it?"

"I'm in a study to see if a Faunus and a human have different rates at which they progress when training to run long distance! I'm the Faunus. And, no, they are not trying to call us separate species again. They just want to know." Sun works at a place where you train, train others, and study athletics.

"Wow!"

"Yeah"

Then I went and made Teo and Evie a snack as they took their backpacks to their rooms. Sun went out to buy some groceries.

After I brought a snack of apple slices and cheese cubes to the two older kids and made sure they started their homework, I went up to Sun and mine's room and sat down at the desk. I work for a publishing company, so there is always a new book to read and make notes on.
