*POTO is not mine*
Rose POV
Once again Meg and I had to go searching for Christine. Why is it that she always goes missing? I head toward the stairs that lead to the roof because I'm pretty sure that's where Raoul was being dragged. I reached the door to the roof and through the window I saw Raoul spinning Christine and noticed that they also shared a kiss. Someone has some explaining to do. Once Christine is back on her feet, they started towards the door, so I quickly walked back towards the stairs and acted like I just reached the roof. "There you guys are! Meg started worrying again.... wait... why do you look so happy? Joseph was killed only moments ago, what could possibly- *gasps and practically yells* Did you guys get engaged!?" The look on Christine's face was pure shock.
"Shhhh ye- how did you know?"
"Well for one, your smile was so big it looked like a child in a candy shop. Second, your lipstick is smeared, and some of it is on Raoul." I almost burst out laughing when Christine's hand flew up to cover her mouth and how they both started blushing.
"Anyway, congratulations you two! You should both get back to the stage though, Christine is still expected to finish the opera and the ballet just finished!" I watched as they both ran back down the stairs and to the stage. I looked back out the window and saw someone crouching on the ground so I went out to see if they were alright.  "Excuse me? Are you alright?" When they didn't respond I stepped closer and I realized that it was a man that I was speaking to. "Monsieur?" He slightly turned his head to me and only then did I realize that I was once again talking to the Phantom. My heart hurt when I saw his eyes all red and puffy from crying and full of sadness. But at the same time my heart was racing. Why you may ask, was my heart racing, but I honestly couldn't tell you. In the back of my mind I know there is a possibility that I may care for him, but the rest of me knows that I can't because he is the Opera Ghost. I went and sat beside him hoping he didn't hear how loud my heart was thumping. "Monsieur Phantom? Are you okay?" He quickly regained his composure and stood, leaving me sitting on the snowy roof. I, myself stood, and placed my hands on my hips waiting for an answer. Groaning I walked up to him and started to wave my hand in his face. "Hello? I'm try- will you please let go of my wrist?" His firm grip started to loosen but he didn't let go. "Please?" I asked barely above a whisper. He let go and turned to leave when I placed my hand on his shoulder. I could feel him tense up so I removed my hand and simply said "wait.."
"Why should I wait?" His reply was laced with impatience.
"I wanted to know if you were alright...."
"Yes I am perfectly fine, now if-"
"I apologize for interrupting Monsieur, but you did not look fine. I asked if you were alright twice before you even reacted. Please, I'm just trying to help."
"I don't need your pity" without another word, he was gone. I slowly walked back towards the door, but I still felt his presence. "I know you're still here, but obviously you don't want to talk, so I won't make you. Goodnight Monsieur." I turned and started for the door again before I felt a gloved hand grab my wrist again. I smiled to myself realizing that his touch sent my heart fluttering.  He turned me around to face him. "Why do you care if I'm alright or not?"
"Well, I was taught that no matter who they are, you should still be kind to someone. Whether it's helping them carry something, cheering them up, or even something as simply smiling at them."
"But I am a monster, you shouldn't waste your time."
"Phantom, I don't believe anyone, especially you, is a monster." I gave him a warm smile but he didn't seem to notice.
"How would you know if I'm a monster or not?! You barely know me!" He yelled and stormed off.  His short temper didn't bother me too much so I just shook it off and made my way back to the stage.
