I smiled as Kaleb, Davina's boyfriend snapped another picture of me on one of Kol's cameras. Kaleb looked at the picture before showing it to me. I smiled, "love it."
"Time to go," Elena announced. "Five minutes ladies. Come on!"
Everyone pulled themselves together, exiting the room in order. My older sisters joined us at the back door of the lake house I was now living in. Damon stayed at the Boarding House last night. So I haven't seen him since the rehearsal dinner. And I was full of nerves. We spoke on the phone this morning. Neither had cold feet. But still I was just terrified. Like I've never done this. I'm not ready, what if I fall?!
But I just want to marry him so bad. I love him. And he promised if I fell he'd pick me up and still say I Do. "Ready?" My eldest sister, Addie asked me, taking my elbow on the right.
"Yes. I'm so nervous," I whispered.
"So we're we," Emma said. "But you have us. We both have done this before. And guess what? He's already out there waiting."
"Does he look nervous?" I asked.
"Antsy, yes," Addie answered. I smiled slightly at that. My baby was so cute sometimes when he wasn't smirking at everything.
"Well, then let's not keep him waiting."
My heart started racing as I heard a soft piano begin playing. No singing just the piano. Elena walked out first holding her bouquet. I tapped my foot as Hayley went out next in her tulle dress. Then Bonnie. Then Taylor. Oh, God. I'm so close to the doors now.
Caroline followed suit. Stephanie sent me a wink before she walked off. Then it was just us three left. My sisters took a step closer to the pathway, not hidden behind bushes. A small white carpet covered in baby pink glittered lined from the back door of the house to the side behind some bushes, where I already was. Then I had to walk across the bridge where all eyes were on me until I made it to the alter.
"Come on," Emma whispered. The piano started playing a different song and I knew I was supposed to move but I didn't.
"I can't breathe," I gasped, closing my eyes. I felt like I was about to cry. Was this really happening? Was he really waiting there? Was he sure about this? Cause I'm supposed to walk down this carpet and meet him. I'm planning to commit to him for life. And now my throats was closing up.
Addie stepped in front of me, smacking my cheek lightly. "What are you doing?" She hissed. "Don't you want to marry Damon?"
"More than anything," I swore.
"Then what are you waiting for? You're going to give HIM a heart attack," she said and I heard the piano stop.
"Oh, god. I'm sorry," I gasped. "Make them play the piano. I'm ready."
Addie stepped past the bushes, "sorry. Redo? She's ready," she said.
In early face palmed. I was already fucking this up. I didn't want Damon to think I was backing out. Never. If anything I was plotting for him to just come behind the bushes with the priest and marry me where no one was watching. And he'd be COMING to me.
The piano started once more and Addie's elbow joined mine. Then she gave me a soft tug. I avoided tripping and we stepped into the opening on the opposite side of the bridge.
Oh, my god.
He was beautiful.
My eyes watered as I saw his blue eyes widen and then he covered his mouth. But I could see his cheeks move. He was smiling. He wiped one eye and dropped his other hand, grinning at me as I took my first step towards him.
