Athen woke up the same way he always does, in annoyance. He cursed the invention of alarm clocks, and the fact he had to get up so god damn early. For the amount of success he has, you'd think he would have figured out a way to sleep in every now and then.
Looking over at the clock blaring across the room, he squinted to see the blue glowing numbers: 4:30. A good of time as any to get the day started, he groaned as he walked over to the alarm placed intentionally far away so he wouldn't fall back asleep.
Flicking the light on, he looked around his room. The modern layout and expensive furniture always made it feel sleek and clean, something Athen appreciated. He wasn't one for a lot of possessions, but made sure the ones he did have were the best quality. Walking into the hall, he turned on the radio connected throughout his pent house.
Flicking on all of the lights, he slowly made his way down the stairs and into the room designated as a gym. There were various machines and equipment spaced out throughout the large room. 'Humble' by Kendrick Lamar began blasting through every room as he stepped up onto the treadmill.
About an hour and a half later, he finished his workout and began to shower and get ready for work. At 6:20, he was out the door in a perfectly tailored Dark Blue Armani suit with a black shirt and tie. His driver was on time as always, after all that is what he's paid for. He laughed at Alexanders tired expression as he held the door open. "Good morning Alex." He said knowing fully that he was not a morning person.
"Good morning Mr. Creek." He said politefully, trying to look as awake as possible. Athen shook his head stepping into the car, "Call me Athen, Alex. " He said to the boy younger than him. Alex just responded with a smile and a nod, closing the door.
Arriving at work in 5 minutes, Athen walked in at almost exactly 6:30. Though his punctuality was noticed by only himself and Alex, as no one else had arrived yet. The work day didn't begin until 8 officially, but Athen felt it important that the boss was the first person there to get the day started. Of course, a few people slowly started sauntering in around 7 who were responsible for also getting the day started. Athens office being on the last floor, he sat and scrolled through his phones notifications as all other 39 floors passed by.
Turning all of the lights on, he walked into the enormous floor. His office was huge, about half on the floor, with desks in the center of the surrounding area and 4 other smaller offices towards the outer edges of the floor. A text message vibrated the phone in his hand, a reminder from his assistant about the new lawyer starting today. He had forgotten all about that, seeing as he never met her. She had gone through a series of interviews with a number of people, his assistant included and all he had seen were her application and resume. Normally, with a position so important to the company, he would have personally done the hiring, but with the possibility of an expansion he's been too preoccupied to fit dozens of interviews into his schedule.
He hoped his employees made the right decision with hiring her, he had trusted them with a crucial part of his company. Whoever she was, she must have been great for having beaming comments from every person who interviewed her. He was sketchy about her and her experience, she was only 24 and had all of the education and experience? Sure its possible for someone to graduate high school at 16 and get a prestigious law degree by 23 but it all seemed too good to be true. He'd just have to see for himself when she got there.
