Chapter 11

Marquis POV

When the police officer finally let me in I made my way thorugh the house and I saw Dajuan laid out on the couch. Brains were every where. I couldnt take at looking at him like this.

I walked out of the house to the car.

Imani POV

I had put Deja in the car since she was staying with us until the crime scene was finished being proccessed.

I saw Marquis walking back to the car. He got in and drove off.

The ride was silent except for Deja crying in the backseat. She was so loud I was surprised Cartier was still asleep. But her boyfriend just got shot and she was pregnant. I couldnt imagine what she was going through.

We pulled up to the house and we all got out.

When we got into the house Marquis put Cartier back in her bed. Deja laid on the couch and Marquis went upstairs

"Deja baby are you ok?" I asked her sitting next to her on the couch

"Im fine, go to bed" she said

I hugged her and went upstairs to the bed. When I got up there Marquis was crying and he tried to wipe it away before I got there.

"Its okay baby you can cry, Im not going to judge you"

He Put his head on my chest and continued to cry.

Him and Dajuan had been bestfriends since the 4th grade so I knew he was hurt.

"Its all my fault, I brought hi-" He said before I interrupted him

"Baby no its not your fault, you cant blame yourself for this" I said rubbing his head.

Marquis got off of my chest and laid down on his side of the bed. About 30 Minutes later we were both asleep

The next morning, I woke and brushed my teeth and washed my face.

I didnt feel like cooking so everybody was eating cereal.

I went to wake up Cartier.

"Cartier baby wake up."

She stretched and wiped the sleep from her eyes.

"Morning mommy" She said

"Morning baby" I said back

The fact that she was calling me mommy meant that she liked me.

"Time to brush you teeth"

I picked her up and took her to the bathroom.

I started to brush her teeth for her

"Mommy I can do it" she said trying to take the toothbrush away from me.

"okay here baby" I said giving her the toothbrush

After she brushed her teeth I changed her pull up.

I went to her suitcase and picked out her outfit.

She wore her black leggings, a white giraffe sweater, black combat boots and a red knit hat.

I picked her up and took her downstairs.

When I got down there Deja was asleep on the couch, and Marquis was no where.

I guessed he was in his office. I knocked on the office door

"Come in" Marquis said

I opened the door

"Can you watch her while I get dressed"

"Yeah, come here daddys baby"

I could tell he had been crying because his eyes were baggy.

I walked over to him and gave him Cartier.

I walked out the room. Since I had taken a shower last night I just has to find something to wear.

I picked my red and white nike shirt with my Melange Sweatpants, and my Fire Red 5s.

After I was finished I straightened my hair out and walked downstairs.
When I got down there Deja was gone and there was a note on the couch from Deja

It read:

Thank you boo for letting me stay here for the night. Im flying out to Miami to stay with my mom for a couple of months.

-Love you boo

I smiled and folded the note back up.

I went in Marquis office and saw him and Cartier playing together.

She looked just like him.

5 days later

It was the day Cartier was going home.

I packed all her stuff and brought her suitcase down stairs

"You ready to see your mommy" Marquis asked her.

"No daddy I want to stay with you" Cartier replied

"No baby you cant, Mommy is coming to get you" Marquis said

Cartier started rolling around on the floor screaming. She was throwing a major temper tantrum.

"CARTIER GET UP NOW, WHAT JS YOUR PROBLEM" Marquis said sounding agitated

"I dont wanna go wif mommy" She said in between sniffles.

"Why not?"

"Cause, Mr.D always hits me"

Me and Marquis Mouth both dropped
