Finally it was the day before surgery. I had heaps of x-rays, blood texts. I had a rare heart disease and I learnt my scientific name for my type of scoliosis, severe idiopathic thoracic scoliosis. I had Christmas and got heaps of presents for my surgery.
I finally went to the Mater Children's Hospital. We finally had my last meals and then I got ready.
My hair got braided specially so my hair was out of the way. Then on December the 27th I had spinal fusion.
10 hours later I came out of surgery in the ICU (intensive care unit) but when I woke up I was screaming in pain. It felt like my back was getting needles put into one by one painfully. They took and x-ray to see if anything was wrong. There was a huge problem. One of my screws wasn't in tight enough. I then had to go back in for another 2 hours to fix my back. Here is the results
I spent 4 days in ICU and 2 weeks in my own room. All my friends came and visited me. I was so happy. Before I was able to leave I had to walk up stairs. It stung a lot but I finally did it. One last day to make sure everything was good and then home we go!
