After Maya fixed me up, I quickly made my way to the police station.
“Err, hello?” I asked the receptionist.
“How can I help you?” She asked politely with a tight-lipped smile.
“I’m looking for my dad and some cop.”
“Can you give me names?” She asked in a slow patronizing tone.
“My dad’s called Roscoe Eladio but I don’t know the cops’ name.”
“And your name?” She asked still laughing at me.
“Alfie DiMatteo.” She suddenly stopped laughing.
“Oh.” She gulped. “Follow me.” She stood at least three meters away from me before leading me to an office at the end of the station.
“Here we are.” She said before quickly walking away.
“Alfonzo DiMatteo? I’m Chief Constable James Wry. This is Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Ryans; he will be in charge of your monitoring. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll leave you to it.” And with that, he left.
“Right. Let’s get down to business. We need to make sure your information is up to date. Name?”
I just sat there confused.
“Alfie, tell the officer your name.” Ross nudged me.
“Oh. It’s Alfie. Hey.” I waved. Ross face palmed himself.
“Your full name Alfie.”
“Ahh. Alfonzo Giovani Lorenzo DiMatteo.”
“Spelling?” Ryans asked.
“Urm, okay? A-L-F-“
“No. Just spell ‘Geovanni’ please.” He interrupted.
“Okay. G-I-O-V-A-N-I.”
“Age?”
“I am... 18.” I hesitated.
“Appearance.” He mumbled.
“Uhh, I have black ha-“
“You don’t have to tell me Alfonzo. I can see your appearance.” Ryans interrupted again.
“Sorry.” I replied.
“Family?”
“Roscoe is my dad, Schulyer my mum, then there’s my brothers; Zane, Dean and Miles and my sisters; Hope and Faith.”
“Biological family?” I paused and cleared my throat.
“My… mother is called Adelina Cipriana DiMatteo. And my father; Drago DiMatteo. No brothers or sisters.” I sat there awaiting the next question.
“Actually. It says here, Mrs. DiMatteo recently got out of hospital after thirteen hours of labour. You have a little sister by the name of Zebaina Tedesca Olivia DiMatteo – she’s three months old in two days.” He finished and looked at my face.
“Zebaina…” I whispered in shock.
I looked at Ross’ face. He didn’t look shocked.
“Please tell me you didn’t…” I begged.
“I’m sorry Alfie. Olli said it wasn’t a good idea to tell you.”
“My stupid, neglecting, uncaring parents had another child?! And you didn’t think to tell me that small fact?! Il bastardo di fottere stupido! You’re my new guardians! I’m supposed to be able to trust you!” I yelled completely forgetting about Ryans.
