Okay so I was rereading some YMBF and literally slapped myself in the head. I'm so sorry, no one should've had to endure the torture of reading it.
But guess which DI team got 6th place and the Renaissance award at States? RENAISSANCE AWARD. THAT IS A FREAKING BIG FAT DEAL GUYS.
THAT'S RIGHT, BABY, US (including, of course, the wonderful @squirrelgirljo)

*Liz's Perspective*
All of my classes are boring, but interesting. All at the same time.
Informative, I guess you could call it.
Very.
I saw--accidentally, of course--Drew's schedule. The classes she's taking... She's going to go into the police force. She'll be the perfect interrogator, she'll know all about how the mind and body works with emotions and actions. She already knows almost everything about a person after talking to them for about three seconds.
My classes are geared differently.
Neuroscience, for me, is so I can go into depth into how the brain and nervous system works.
Quantum Physics for the behavior and interactions of matter and energy.
Regenerative Medicine, the repair and regeneration of tissues, sometimes for bone marrow when someone has leukemia, things like that.
Calculus 3, extending the ideas of calculus to two- and three- dimensions. It's a very...well, for lack of better words "trippy concept," as Kate might say.
Molecular Biology, the function and structure of molecules. Regulating cell growth, biomolecular chemical reactions. Another cool one.
Genetics, studying genes: chromosome structure/replication, DNA repair, gene therapy. Drew's in this class as well.
It's all clicked for me. I know I needed to study those areas, except I didn't know why. Until now. Something I can do might actually make a big difference for once in someone else's life because that is what it's all about. And I've learned so much already. I have so much inspiration--I know exactly what I want to do with everything I'm learning.
I smile as I set down my backpack. Today was a good day. My classes are fun and already challenging and intriguing. In none of my classes did we do those stupid ice breaker activities to get to know each other. We have no time for that. And, for this, I'm rather glad. The one class I'm genuinely worried about is Calc 3. I'm up for the challenge, though. Anything to test myself.
I spot the green cover of my Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire book. It looks like it's reading time. I hop onto my bed just as Drew opens the door and steps in. I carefully pick up the book from where it is safely tucked away on my nightstand.
Drew doesn't glance at me as she makes her way over to the right side of the room--her side. I open my book just a crack--like always--and dive into the life of Harry that I so desperately want. Deeper and deeper. Harry Potter. Harry Styles. Harry...
I'm given a nice heart attack when the dorm's shared phone rings, pulling me from the magical world. I place my index finger in my page and close the book. I'm about to get up when Drew groans before lunging herself from her bed like a cat.
Who's calling?
That is a very good question. Who is calling? Who'd be calling us--our dorm? Is it for me? Could it possibly be for her?
That's when Drew reaches the land line on our desk. She stretches out her right arm to pick it up. She's facing the door to her left. I can only see her profile, half of her face. She places the receiver to her ear swiftly yet gracefully--something that completely clashes with her personality. From what I can see of her features, they're mutual and level, but slightly pulled down into the beginning of a frown--normal for her. That is until the person speaks.
