TIME HOP TO CHRISTMAS
TAYLOR POV
The alarm went off, waking Adam and I up from our semi-decent sleep, and I quickly turned it off, in order to try and prevent the noise from waking the sleeping child in our room.
"Merry Christmas love." Adam said sleepily, rolling towards me and smiling.
"Merry Christmas.... I think we have 5 minutes until our little monster bursts in and all hell breaks loose." I replied, smirking at him slightly.
We had been awake until 1am helping to wrap and place presents for this morning, and then woke up again at 3am by a cranky baby.
It was Christmas and we were in Colorado with my family and Adam's family, sharing a house with my parents and Adam's parents whilst our siblings took over the multiple linked guest houses. It was great to see our families, and to spend the holidays all together, but the change in routine had ended up being quite disruptive all around, leading to us feeling rather sleep deprived.
"I hear footsteps." I whispered conspiratorially to Adam, making him smile at me and close his eyes, pretending to sleep as I did the same.
Within a minute our bedroom door was opened and a lively 6-year-old was climbing onto our bed.
"Mommy! Daddy! It's Christmas! Wake up, wake up, wake up!" Maisie said, bouncing around and trying to pry open our eyes.
I winced slightly as her voice got louder, anticipating the next thing to happen. Right on cue the wails started.
"Oops.... Fish is awake..." Maisie said guiltily as my eyes popped open.
"As you said sweets, it's time to wake up." I said to her, smiling sleepily and sliding out of bed to get our youngest from his bed. "Hey Fin.... Did your sister wake you up? Let's go see Maisie and daddy."
He immediately started gurgling at me as we walked the few steps to the bed.
"Can I hold him?" Maisie asked, leaning against Adam who was sat up at the head of the bed.
"Sure sweetie, sit up straight and daddy will help you." I said, looking at Adam, who nodded and smiled as he helped Maisie sit up and supported Finley in her arms.
"Hi Fish. Guess what! It's Christmas today!! Christmas is the bestest! You're too little right now to open presents so I will open yours for you. And then we have a huge dinner, which you are too little to eat but you'll see next year." Maisie explained to her nearly 2-month-old baby brother who looked up and smiled at her.
It was adorable how attached Maisie was to her little sibling from the first time she saw him on the ultrasound.
*flashback to 9 months earlier*
Maisie was literally buzzing in her car seat as we drove to the doctor's office, while I was terrified, but putting on a happy front so Maisie didn't know anything was up. I was excited, don't get me wrong, but it was also such a big change.
"You okay there Tay?" Adam asked as he turned into the parking lot.
"Yup, all fine and dandy." I said, slightly sarcastically, rolling my eyes. Adam knew I was nervous and had been supportive but my tether was quite short today.
We barely had to wait for our turn, and were soon in the room.
"Maisie, can you sit on daddy's lap?" I asked her just before the doctor came in as I knew she would get underfoot quite easily.
