"Hey RoRo!" A familiar, cheery voice blasted through the phone.
"Hi seth." I chuckled in reply.
Seth is my BEST friend, I've known him since high school and now we're co-workers.
"I have really really good news!" He exclaimed.
"Really? Go on." I continued my stroll to my car.
"Yea- you know that really fancy restaurant that's being built?"
"Mhm."
"My friend owns it and tonight's the opening and I'm going and I was wondering if you wanted to go.." he asked, a sense of nervousness lingered in his voice.
I opened my car door and got in. "Seth, what do you mean? Like as-"
"No. Not as friends." His voice sounded more nervous.
I didn't want to make him sad, he's my best friend.
I could feel my face get red hot.
"Yes." I answered finally.
"Good! I'll pick you up at 5! Have a good day at work!" All the nervousness left his voice.
"You too."
He hung up.
My hearts going a million miles per minute. I didn't know Seth liked me, and I don't like him in that way. I'll do this for him.
I took a deep breath, and I put the key in, and the engine rumbled, then stopped. I tried again. Same thing. I picked up my phone and called Seth again.
"What's up-" He said before I cut him off.
"My car won't start. Do you mind coming to pick me up?" I asked.
"Oh no problem! Be there in five!" He said and hung up.
I leaned back and let out a huge sigh.
I grabbed my keys and stuffed them in my pocket, doing the same with my wallet and phone. I stepped out of the car and began a walk towards the entrance of the parking lot.
// Time skip five minutes. He's obviously already arrived at the entrance of the parking lot. //
Seth pulled over, and I got in.
I reached over and put my seatbelt on, and looked at seth. "Thanks for picking me up. That damn car has been giving my troubles every morning."
He looked back at me and smiled. "No problem."
"So is the opening formal.." I asked, just to make some conversation while he was driving.
"Formal. I'm excited.. I'm glad you're going to come with me."
"I'm glad I get to come. I wouldnt be able to afford it anyways." I smiled.
Seth was always fairly wealthy, and could usually afford nice things because of his parents. He lives on a nicer side of town in a actual house. A pretty big one.
"Finally here. What a morning." Seth said with a chuckle.
"Yeah."
I got out, and Seth came over to my side of the car.
Our size difference was something I always poked fun at. Seth is such a shortie.
And suddenly... a hug.
Seths arms gripped tightly around my waist. I wrapped one arm around him and rubbed his head.
I pulled back to let him know the hug was over. "I needed to get that out." He said, his face redder than tomato.
"Its fine." I laughed, raising my eyebrows in a bit of curiosity.
We both strolled into the restaurant, 6:40 AM. Clocked in.
I grabbed my apron and threw it over my head.
Our aprons were white, with our name embroidered in a cursive font, "Roman R."
Our restaurant was very fifty themed so girls had to wear big poodle-like skirts, and a pink apron.
I didn't know many of the girls but my friend, Paige. She liked the whole fifty themed thing because she felt pretty in it.
