"Do you have all of your things?" My dad questioned me as I sat down in the passenger seat of his rusty old Nissan.
"Yeah, we are good to go," I smiled as I slammed the door shut behind me just before he pulled away from the curb and onto the road away from the school.
"Are you excited?" he spoke in a lively tone, and I could tell that he was excited, maybe even more than I was.
"I am, I think this will be really helpful!"
"I agree," he looked away from the road and smiled at me for a second, "and today is only introductions so it will be quick and easy"
"That's what I like to hear" I said with a laugh as we continued down the path to the facility.
Things have been going well so far with my dad and I concerning the move, we are slowly unpacking boxes and getting things organized in our small home. We live in a quaint apartment on the third floor of an old office building in the downtown area of Magnolia that is nearby the hospital. It's smaller than the house that we had back in Hargeon but it is only my dad and I so we don't need a large space anymore, and besides, the view of the city from the massive windows in the living room makes it all worth it.
I was torn from my thoughts when I noticed the large building creep into view in the distance, and I braced myself for my appointment.
~Time Skip~
My morning classes flew by and before I knew it, it was already lunchtime. The weather this week has been really great, so I decided to sit in the same place that I had yesterday. I surveyed the outside of the campus and I had found this huge sakura tree, probably the largest on the school grounds. I walked towards the blooming flowers, and took my time to sit down and lean against the wide trunk of the tree.
About halfway through lunch I was admiring the weather and the still blossoming flowers when I heard a loud crunching sound coming from the other side of the tree. At first I thought it was just a squirrel running around but then it happened again. My curiosity got the best of me and I turned my head to my right in an attempt to peer around the trunk.
Unfortunately the trunk was too big too see around so I had to abandon my bag to stand up and make my way to the other side. To my surprise there was actually someone sitting there with one hand in a bag of potato chips, and the other holding a large book up to her face. A petite blunette sat in front of me, leaning against the tree, completely immersed in the novel held right in front of her nose. She took her hand out of the bag and threw a chip into her mouth, that would explain the crunching that I heard earlier.
I inched closer and she didn't seem to notice, so I reluctantly sat down beside her, deciding that I needed to make new friends if I was going to get anywhere - socially - in a new high school. She jumped a little as she laughed lightly and set down her book beside her.
"You scared the shit out of me" I laughed at the shocked look on her face as she continued, "I haven't seen you around school before," she studied my face for a moment, obviously waiting for a response, "my name is Levy, nice to meet you" I guess it was a little odd that I had been the one to approach her yet I haven't said a single word.
Feeling my face heat up in embarrassment, I responded, "Hey, my names Lucy. I just moved to Magnolia so it would make sense that you haven't seen me around." I laughed
She nodded her head and held up the bag of potato chips to me, "Want one?"
Thanking her and grabbing a chip, I continued to explain the funny situation we were in because I wasn't too sure what else to talk about, "so I was just sitting on the other side of the tree when I heard a crunching sound, so I decided to check it out. That's when I saw you here."
"I always sit under this tree when the weather is nice, It's like my special spot. Normally I would sit with my friends but they are really loud" She chuckled and popped another chip into her mouth.
"Yea I've always loved the outdoors because it's way quieter" I said looking back up at the blanket of flowers above our heads.
"I should introduce you to my friends!", she sat up dramatically, "Since you're new I am assuming you haven't made any yet?" I nodded my head and looked at the grass in embarrassment.
"Thanks that would actually mean a lot" I spoke genuinely, it's important that I make more friends at school even if I don't really want to introduce myself to new people. Plus, with Levy there it should be easier for me to talk to her friends.
"Yeah anytime" she said with a large smile, "I can introduce you to them at lunch tomorrow if you are up for it?"
Levy and I talked until the bell rang, and I really got to know her over our lunch period. She is a huge bookworm just like me and she has a boyfriend named Gajeel. He sounds a little strange but she says I'll get to meet him soon. I feel like I can consider Levy my first friend at this school, she even said that I can continue to sit under the tree with her on warm days.

I had practically rushed out of school and hopped on the bus, eager to get home. I was so excited to tell my dad about how I made my first friend today.
