Gumball X Darwin: Love Is Hidden

The Letter

Gumball's POV:

I shook my head in anger and disbelief as Anais handed me a note. "Dear Gumball and Darwin, I see you two decided to escape. Don't worry, the next time I find you, there won't be a way out! I will hurt you two so badly, you won't forget it!
            ~~~Ta Ta! Penny"

As I read the letter out loud, I felt so angry. My hands began to shake. "She won't hurt us!" I growled. "I won't let her hurt you!" I said looking at Darwin who was still. I grabbed his shoulders. "I WON'T LET HER HURT YOU!" I said breathing quickly. He grabbed my shoulders too. "Gumball, we'll go through it together, we're a team." He breathed staring at me, his eyes were gentle and they calmed me down.

Anais got up in her bed. "We'll talk about it tomorrow, tomorrow is Sunday so it's okay, Mom and Dad go out tomorrow, remember? Now go to bed." She said rolling over and closing her eyes. She had always been an a good sleeper, she was already asleep and it took a lot to get her up. I let myself drop to the ground. "Gumball." Darwin whispered sitting beside me.

I wrapped him in a hug, I felt tears hit my eyes. "She won't hurt you! I'll kill her!" I growled burying my head in Darwin's shoulder. My claws started to dig into Darwin's back. He gently took them off and smiled at me. "Gumball, don't worry! It's okay, I love you, we protect each other." Darwin said looking at me.

I wiped my eyes and took a breath. "You're right." I agreed as I got off of him. I felt butterflies swarm my stomach when I looked at him, my face grew warm. I tackled him onto the floor, he exploded into laughter and I did too. I leaned in, my face had never felt so hot, not even with Penny...

I kissed him, I could feel him kiss me back, soon we stopped and I gave him a smile, he smiled back, I could see his face turn red. "Y'now, that wasn't our first time kissing." He breathed as he layed down beside me. I gave a laugh. "Yeah! Remember Molly's tree house?" "And when you needed air when we flooded the house!" Darwin said grinning. "And when we both needed air so we kissed!" I laughed laying down with Darwin on the floor.

"And when you felt sad and you were in the bathtub so I kissed you." Darwin said running a hand through his hair. I gave a laugh. "I guess we have kissed a lot." I smiled as I twitched my ears. I let my eyes close, I draped my arms around Darwin who gladly accepted and curled up against my chest and held onto my waist.

I gave a happy sigh and drifted off to sleep. I was running, my heart beating against my chest, the storm was circling in, and she was out here, trying to get vengeance. "COME OUT YOU COWARD! I HAVE HIM!" She screamed. Her words made me shake. Darwin...Darwin...DARWIN!!! She had him...I forced myself to run to her. "Let him go!" I growled. My vision began to cloud as the rain and wind swam together. "I want to make you suffer." She said menacingly, she was holding him by his hood. "Gumball!" He screamed. I felt myself break;I'm not tough! I'm useless! No!!! I fell onto the pavement and cried, screaming desperately for her to let Darwin go, to feel his smooth touch against mine, to have him by my side! I saw her beat him, I screamed and tried to run...run to him...run to save him...run to help him! I was stuck in place. "NO!!! DARWIN!!! NOOO!!! I LOVE YOU!" I screamed helplessly. "NO NO NO NO! LET HIM GO! PLEASE!  HURT ME INSTEAD! LET HIM GO!" I screamed watching Darwin bleed...Watching Penny kill him. I gasped for air, I was so worked up that I was choking on my tears and my breath. "DAAAAARWIN!" I screamed hitting the ground with my fist, shaking in anger as tears ran down my face.

"GUMBALL!" Screamed a voice. I shook, violently, "N-No!!! DARWIN!" I bawled. "I'm here!!! Stop stop! I'm here!" Darwin comforted running a hand through my hair and kissing my forehead. I let out a hoarse cry and let the tears fall as I snuggled up to him, my chest rising and falling quickly. "Darwin?---" I asked choking on my words. I felt him rub my back. "Gumball, I'm here, it's okay. Tell me what's wrong!" Darwin ushered looking up at my face.

I sobbed even harder, and let my body shake. "Gumball!" Darwin murmured looking at me in concern. "I-I- I can't lose you D-Darwin!" I trembled. "Dude! I'm here! I'd never leave you! I love you too much!" Darwin whimpered wiping my tears. "L-Look! I had a bad dr-dream! I-I'm afraid to lose you!" I stuttered. "No no no! I'd never leave you! Ever! I love you, I love you so much, don't you ever think that Gumball!" He whispered stroking my hair.

I gave a little sigh of relief. "I love you so much Darwin, y-you don't even know!" I said softly as I kissed his cheek. "Shhhh, I'm here, let's go back to sleep, it's okay." Darwin said resting his head on my chest. My breathing became normal and I let my body go at ease, Why was I dreaming that? Penny won't ever hurt Darwin, ever, I'm going to protect him every day.

I let my head rest on top of Darwin, my face grew hot as I felt him grab my waist tighter, I gave a little smile to myself as I watched him sleep. I've been so stupid! The one that's loved me has been here all along. I drifted off to sleep with a smile on my face.
