Another year in captivity. Another year of no sun, no friends, no family. I've been here for a long time. 10 years to be exact.
You're probably wondering what I'm talking about.
My name is Lily Barns and I'm 27 years old. I'm from Brooklyn, New York. I have black hair and brown eyes.
You're probably thinking that I'm around 30 or 40 years old, well, I am.
Not physically though. I look like I'm in my late twenties, but I'm actually older than that. I just don't look like it.
You probably think that's impossible. For others, it is.
But not for me.
Along with my other abilities, I am immortal.
For you to understand, I should start from the beginning.
In 1933, on the 18th of February, my birthday, I was turning 16. My brother and our friends had something special planned today, but I didn't know what it was.
I was sure that we were going somewhere outside of New York, because I heard my brother talking with our friends about getting some plane tickets last month. I didn't know where we were going, but I always had a dream of traveling around the world and see places I could only see in books.
Today, I was getting ready, when my brother knocked on my bedroom door.
"Are you ready?" He asked through the door.
"Almost done," I replied, tying my dad's old combat boots.
Our dad was a soldier in World War I. He died shortly after returning home, and mom had to remarry to support me and my brother. She soon died of pneumonia, and our step-dad left us after she died. My brother, James, or Bucky, as I like to call him, and I had to find jobs.
Our friends' parents were kind enough to take care of us till we turned 16. Bucky was born in March 1917, so he's only a ten months older than me.
Once I was done, I grabbed my coat, and walked out of my room. I met Bucky in the living room, and, once we were ready, we walked out to the car. We found our friends, Steve and Daniel Rogers sitting in the back seat. They decided to let Bucky drive and have me sit in the passenger set, with a blindfold.
Daniel is little older than me, but no one knows exactly when he was born. He was found on the Rogers' doorstep, crying. Seeing no letter, they took him in, and cared for him as their own.
After getting on the plane, I was seated in a seat away from a window. The boys not wanting me to know where we're going. Once we landed, I was immediately escorted out, with Bucky covering my eyes. They helped me into another car, and I was blindfolded once again.
When we reached our destination, I was finally able to see our location.
The Grand Canyon.
I was so excited that I squealed, and squeezed each of them in a bear hug. The Grand Canyon was one of the places I've always wanted to see. It must have costed them so much money to get us here.
Once I was done squeezing the life out of them, we started to walk around, gazing into one of the Wonders of the World. As we were exploring the top part of the Canyon, I saw something very peculiar.
I wasn't sure what it was, but I kept seeing a bright orange light, inside the Canyon. I told the others, but when they looked, the light was gone. They said I was imagining it, because I do have a wild imagination, but I knew that I wasn't.
