The Final Battle

Third Person P.O.V.

Fortunately, Steve had pulled one of the Hydra men in front of him. The blue blast hit the soldier, making him evaporate. At that moment, three men broke through the windows, followed closely by Lily.

Lily's P.O.V.

At the signal, Gabe, Dum Dum, and Union Jack zip-lined across, while I followed closely behind. Once the three of them broke through the glass, they began to fire. Unfortunately, when I landed in the office, I was hit by a blue blast, which knocked me down.

As I laid there, hearing the fight, I began to wonder.

When would I evaporate?

I saw men from both sides disappear instantly, when they got hit by the blasts of blue energy.

"Miss Barns?"

I heard someone call for me, and I opened my eyes. More men from our group was coming over. Union Jack was over me, calling my name.

"Are you alright?" He asked me.

I groaned as I tried to sit up.

"I think I am," I replied.

Union Jack helped me get to my feet. Once I was standing, I stumbled, completely in pain. I wrapped one of my arms around my torso, for that's where I got hit, and was hurting the most.

"What is it?" He asked, worry written on his face.

"I got hit by that blue energy," I answered, gritting my teeth.

"That would have killed you, instantly. How did you survive?"

"I don't know, but I can still help. Where's Steve?"

"He went after Schmidt."

I nodded, and jogged out of the room. I wanted to run, but it would cause more pain then jogging. Heck, I would still be in pain even if I wasn't moving. As I moved along the tunnels, I was able to pass by the Hydra soldiers without being spotted. Up ahead, I saw a flash of blue, and jogged a little faster.

"Steve," I called out.

He glanced behind, and saw me. He quickly threw his shield at the escaping Schmidt, but it didn't come back. I walked up to him.

"Are you okay?" He asked, once I stood beside him. "What happened?"

"Got hit by that blue energy," I answered him, as we began to go after Schmidt. "But I'm fine."

Before we could turn the corner, a big man with a machine strapped to his back, stepped in front of us. Two jets of fire came out, and we ducked behind a small portion of the wall. As he fired, I reached my hand out, to control the fire.

Nothing happened.

I looked at my hand, before reaching out to the fire, again. Still nothing happened. I wasn't hit by a dart, and even if I was, I could slightly control fire.

I looked at Steve worriedly, and he knew something was wrong. We stood there, waiting for the man to go away or give up. As we waited, we heard shooting, and an explosion. We peeked out, and found the man dead, with the machine on his back on fire.

We turned the corner, and saw Peggy, Daniel and other soldiers.

"You're late," Steve said to her, repeating her words.

"Are you two okay?" Daniel asked.

I nodded.

Steve and Peggy stared at each other, before Peggy spoke.
