A Different Huntsman (a RWBY fanfiction)

chapter 4

"I'm surprised you fell for this simple trick," Roman said, smiling as he twirled his cane.

Yang punched the bars again and again but it seemed to be futile. "Don't waste your energy. Those things are made from diamond," Roman said.

"Expensive, but very very hard to break," he continued, before the door was suddenly opened.

"Sorry I'm late, I was taking out the grunts here and . . . what happened?" Mesagi asked and they all looked at him in shock.

"Who are you?" Roman asked, raising an eyebrow. "Name's Mesagi. Solo hunter," Mesagi replied, pulling the trigger twice.

When he did, the katana and its sheath transformed into a shotgun with a magazine.

"Oh. I'm surprised that there was a solo hunter," Roman said rather sarcastically, before realising that Mesagi had inserted a bright blue coloured clip.

"What're you-" Roman was cut off when Mesagi shot the bars, leaving holes through the bars.

"Wha- how?!" Roman was in shock. "Although diamonds are hard, the only thing that can break diamond is itself," Mesagi replied, as he continued shooting the bars.

Soon enough, team RWBY got out of their cages and was now ready for a fight.

"Well, if you want a fight, these guys will give you. Guys!" Roman yelled out but no one came.

"Just to let you know, I beaten them all up," Mesagi said, as he changed his shotgun to the katana and sheath again.

Outside

People in suits were seen groaning on the ground.

Back to inside

"How the..." Roman then smirked. "Congratulations. You did quite well. But you forgot one person," he said, and instinctively, Mesagi ducked, as a sharp item sliced a strand of his hair.

And that was the same time he was kicked to the face. He backed away before falling, shaking his head quickly.

When his vision cleared, he saw Yang trying to punch a girl with different hair colours, but fails as they all were illusions, while the others fought Roman and a woman with black hair.

"What is . . . " he slowly stood up, still dazed, as he held onto his head, his left hand still holding onto the shotgun.

He then instinctively rolled to the left, as a fireball had went to the direction he was standing on.

"What the heck?! I wasn't ready!" He yelled out, as he pulled the trigger long enough for it to transform back into a sheath and katana, and went hiding behind a pillar.

He put the sheath at the side of his waist, and he pulled the triggers on both his katanas.

There were louder 'clank' sounds, and when he took both out, they were katanas of the same length.

Before he could even stand up, he felt a sharp item near his neck, which made him gulp.

He looked at the holder of the blade, and it was the girl with the different hair colour. Now that he had a closer look, he saw that she was heterochromatic.

"Uh. . . Before I die, may I know your name?" Mesagi asked, feeling that he should at least know who his murderer is.

The girl, holding onto her blade with one hand, smiled at him and gave him hand signals, which he identify as 'N-E-O'.

"Neo, huh? Like, Neopolitan?" Mesagi asked her, tilting his head. Neo nodded.

"Huh. . . ." Mesagi instantly pushed the blade away and rolled away.

"So you're mute, too. Understandable," Mesagi said, before the door burst open and hunters and huntresses came in.

Mesagi watched as Neo ran away with Roman and the black haired woman, who, in Mesagi's shock, had made a fire wall to block their path.

Mesagi went to check team RWBY, and he saw that Yang had fainted, Weiss had her dress singed, Blake had her bowtie singed as well, while Ruby had some parts of her cape singed too.

"Who was that black haired woman?" Mesagi asked. "Her name is Cinder," Blake replied bitterly.

"Cinder. . . . Makes perfect sense now," Mesagi said, sitting down beside the fainted Yang.

"Where were you this entire time?" Ruby asked, raising an eyebrow to Mesagi.

"Neo got me to a corner," Mesagi replied, scratching his head. "So you know her," Weiss said, feeling untrustworthy of Mesagi.

"That's because I asked what her name was," Mesagi replied. "And besides, mission's over, right?" He continued.
