*If you're going to be a smartass, first you have to be smart, otherwise you're just an ass.*

Lucas led up to the guest room that was made ready for us. Two different rooms had been prepared but Emma insisted that we would share one which I had no qualms about. I felt more comfortable with knowing where she was and that she would be right next to me.

As soon as we made it to the door, Emma thanked Lucas and took the plate of sandwiches from him. He once again blushed and quickly scurried off down the hall.

Stepping into the room, I was in awe. It was beautiful. The walls were a dark blue with pearl white trim with a matching canopy queen sized bed.

Flopping down on the bed, Emma snagged another sandwich and started eating. "Sooo.." she mumbled with a mouth full of food. "You gonna tell me what's going on with you?"

Straight to the point.

"What do you mean?" I wandered over to the door on the side of the room. I thanked the mood goddess when it lead into an adjoining bathroom.

"You know what I mean. Don't play dumb." She called out to me.

"Well then call my dumb, I don't know what your talking about." I stepped in front of the mirror examining myself. I looked like a train wreck. My hair had bits of mud and sticks suck in it. My whole body faired pretty much the same way.

"Fine dummy. Let me spell it out for you then." She came up behind me and started pulling the sticks from my hair making me hiss every time she plucked one out. It hurt. "First, what happened at the club. All I remember is turning around on the dance floor and running into a vampire. After that it goes blank."

I shivered remembering the look on her face when I found her in that room. "You were compelled. They took you to a room in the VIP section and tried to drain you." My voice was void of emotion as I recalled everything from memory. "Another vampire tracked me down and taunted me that they had you. I found out where you were and tracked you down. When I walked in the room I thought you were dead." Emma's hand stilled in my hair. "There were three other vampires in the room with you. When I kicked in the door, one got smashed in between the door and the wall, knocking him out. The other two I killed." I left out all the gory details. She didn't need to know how it was done other than that they were indeed dead. "Knight came in just after everything happened and told me to get you out of there. That he would clean up the mess."

"And after that?" Her voice was just above a whisper.

"I drove you back to the pack."

"What did my brother do? What started the fight?"

I sighed. I didn't want her to know what he had set it all up. No matter how much of an asshole her brother was, she loved him. I knew that. "He accused me of doing that to you. To almost killing you. The rest you know."

"What arn't you telling me Lilith?" She was smart. It couldn't have been that simple.

"Next question." Too much had happened today. I didn't want to add on her brother betraying her to the mix. Another day maybe.

"Fine." She plucked another stick out with a little more force this time. Brat. "What's up with you and Lance?" She quickly changed topics.

I stepped out of her reach and pulled the shirt over my head. Nudity didn't bother us. We were far too close for that. "Other than the fact that he's a bossy asshole?"
