I decided to leave for Maine to meet one of the oldest supernatural clans. Then if I enter the waters there I can swim across to Europe to search for any similar cases to mine.
I returned to my cave and spent the next day packing a small bag of clothes. Tonight I can sleep to leave early tomorrow morning.
I set up a bed in the cave, since I didn't want to enter the human world filled with helpless beings who's blood is vital for me. I laid out some dry sea weed and blankets that I kept here in case of emergencies.
As I laid down at about 6 in the evening, I immediately fell asleep. I slept dreamlessly. I woke up in the middle of the night, I looked out at the moon which was high up in the sky, and its glow was illuminating the soft curves of the beach line. There weren't many lights on in the city. I decided to get out of my cave to breathe some fresh air.
I stood in the ocean breeze and inhaled the soft salty smell. I looked up at the white moon again. It was almost full. I was mesmerized by its beauty. While I was standing at the opening of my cave, I began hearing a soft vibrating somewhere in the distance. I dismissed it to be just some noise in the night. The vibration became louder and more irritating.
It filled my mind and didn't give space to any other thoughts or processes. It spread down my back in the form of a chill and into my numb limbs. The vibration began controlling me. It drowned out my human mind and my siren instincts. It was some sort of ancient magic that pulled me into the shimmering waters and towards the city.
My body adapted its true form as I entered the icy ocean waters. My tail also submitted to this ghostly prompting. I climbed up the rocky beach, entering in the middle of one of the ports. Had it been a day hour, my presence would have been easily exposed. Luckily the shadows cast by the gigantic supply ships made me almost invisible.
I crept into down the main street. It was half lit by a warm glow of the street lights. There were no cars, highlighting how late it was.
The weird vibration drew me to a stop in front of a building, all the lights in which were off. One of the highest windows had a colorfully designed curtain, suggesting that it was inhabited by a child. The vibration seemed focused on that window.
For a few seconds the vibration ceased and my senses half-returned. This brought my attention to the intoxicating smell which I was already familiar with. The smell of fresh blood came from all the houses and windows surrounding me, but the smell coming from the child's window was better than anything I have ever smelled before.
After letting me acknowledge the purpose of my visit, the mystifying vibration returned stronger than before. I knew what it wanted. Knowing intensified the horror of what is about to happen.
I was pulled to climb up the brick wall. It was easier with my new strengths. The vibration seemed fully aware of my strengths and weakness'. Sometimes I felt like it knew me better than I knew myself.
As I reached the colorful window I slowed down. My actions were still steered by the unearthly vibration, but now I was fighting it with all my strength.
I was on the window sill, looking at the sleeping baby. He was younger than I thought. That's why his smell is warmer and fresher. As I drew closer to my victim, my morals weakened and I began submitting to the horrid vibration.
Sitting there, I felt the vibration present but plotting rather than acting. I knew that some kind of disaster was brewing. I had to stop before I harm the helpless newborn. But his blood must taste so good. I bet one child won't do much harm. But think about the parents, they will be devastated.
There was an inner battle in my mind. Slowly, I felt my human side weaken and the bloodthirsty beast to come out.
The vibration sprang into action the moment I realized that I won't be able to fight this crazy situation. My body became a puppet in its twisted game.
Slowly, I drew my hand up to the window. I was horrified to see that the deadly claws were actually gone as well as the black lines. What is going on?
I pushed the window open and crept inside. The soft luring smell was even stronger in here. The vibration seemed to fully understand my need for blood as it pushed me closer to the sleeping child.
I kneeled over the edge of his crib. The baby had fair hair and visibly soft pinkish skin. I touched his cheek with the back of my hand. His skin was silky and smooth. Immediately I imagined sinking my teeth into it.
I flinched with hatred for myself with that thought.
My eyes traveled down from his face down to his small neck. I could practically see the warm crimson liquid pulsing under just a thin layer of gentle skin.
This long pause seemingly annoyed the vibration and it proceeded to roughly pull me out of this trance and into action. I bent my head down with my lips almost touching his neck. My fangs appeared and I was in too far to back out now. I let out a shaky breath and sank my teeth into the soft flesh.
The warm blood tricked into my mouth and down my throat, warming me from inside. My mind cleared and my normal chain of thought returned, yet I could still hear the faint gloating of the vibration.
I sucked more and more from the little boy. He was unconscious. I looked at his body became limp in his bed as the last thread of life left his system.
As I examined his paling body I realized something that completely baffled me- I was looking at the boy. I could see him. That meant my vision was back. What is going on?
"Let me explain, but first let's go somewhere more private. Take the boy with you," a buzzing voice said from somewhere above.
