I could not remember the journey back to my cave or where the lifeless corpse disappeared. My own actions appeared to be in some sort of haze. Although actions seemed unclear to me, I had plenty emotions to fill my mind and thoughts. These emotions flew around in my head mixing and bumping into each other, causing great chaos and ruckus which made my brain buzz and ring.

At first I was angry that all this is happening to me. I missed that usually at this late hour I would be sitting in my comfy house, cramming stupid algebra and geometry. Those used to be my greatest problems and I didn't have to worry about going psycho on anybody that has flowing through their veins.

Anger slowly drifted into sadness as I remembered that I might have to leave behind the life I have grown so attached to over the past centuries. It was again replaced by anger but now I was angry at myself for letting this happen. It's my entire fault. I let that horrible Alfa take away everything that I held so dear. My anger was again directed at him.

To my surprise this anger weakened and some sort of peace and hope flooded my thoughts. I thought about the soft buzzing voice that was now guiding me, willing to explain. Maybe the voice can fix this- make me the way I was before. Maybe I will be able to escape this city and remember this as an embarrassing story to tell my friends. Maybe this voice knows how to help me. That was the conclusion I came to and it was one I would like to believe.

I crawled out of the water into my cave. I sat on the stone floor in my human form. I was still wearing my pajamas which were now completely soaked and ripped. I sat and waited for the voice to return. I had time to almost drift into a light sleep when at last it came back.

"Sorry to have you waiting so long, I had a few jobs to do here on Earth while the gate way is open."

"The gate way to where? Who are you?" I asked my voice sounding calmer than I actually was.

"That is a difficult question to answer dear. The gateway can lead to many places, yet it's barely ever open for us to pass."

"Who are you?" I repeated.

"That question is even harder to answer sweetheart. Let's just get to the ones I came here for, before my time runs out."

"Like what's going on with me right now? And why I am not dead like all the other rejection stories?"

"Yes, yes. Those are exactly the questions I came here to answer." Why isn't is answering my questions?

"What happened to me?"

"You were rejected darling." Oh my god this voice is absolutely useless...

The voice stopped talking for a few seconds as if it was trying to come up with a delicate way to explain the full horror of the situation to a little child.

"Hmmm... you see," finally the voice began its explanation, "you are a siren: a specie that has been barely extinct on Earth for many thousands of years. A great majority of those living on Earth moved into the Beyond where they could live under the watch of their queen. Some sirens like your mother stayed behind in the challenging environment coexisting with the developing human race. They became stronger than ever, learning everything about staying safely hidden from curious eyes. As you noticed, sirens relive the best 10 years of their life again and again. Yes I see you just restarted your cycle recently. This leads to them being immortal- almost impossible to kill. Haven't you noticed that you heal from any injury in seconds? That is quite an interesting talent right."

I nodded not saying anything that could interrupt her train of thought.

"Your mother,"  it continued, "was one of the brave ones that stayed here and fought on a challenging battle for existence. This may surprise you, but you were actually born between your mother and human. Yet this didn't weaken your powers one bit, in fact this made you much stronger."
