Chapter 23

Jungkook hauled the last bag in the car, huffing a breath. Jimin closed the trunk for him, letting out a yawn. None of the boys had yet to get sleep, as they decided three-in-the-morning was a pretty inconspicuous time to departure. 

"Good to go?" Taehyung asked, arms crossed. Jungkook nodded.

Everyone gave their last goodbyes, but Yoongi pulled Jungkook aside.

"Hey," he said, making Jungkook furrow his eyebrows. "I know I may seem totally unchill with the whole you-and-Jimin-thing, but I just wanted to let you know that I apologize for being so...immature."

Jungkook smiled. "It's okay, hyung. I understand."

"Yeah. Yeah, okay," he replied. "I just was jealous, you know? You were able to make him laugh and smile so much, ever since, yanno, our parents separated."

"I'm glad you approve. I will take very good care of him," Jungkook assured.

"You better," Yoongi threatened, making Jungkook chuckle and step back with arms up playfully.

"C'mon, they're gonna think I'm gonna stab you or something," Yoongi said, and Jungkook followed him back to the group.

The other three boys saw them walking back. Jimin gave Jungkook a questioning look, but Jungkook just smiled back and wrapped an arm around him.

"So," Hoseok began, "until we meet again? When will you guys be back?"

"Until our dad's business blows over. So, a couple days? Shouldn't be that long. I'll text you when it's finished," Taehyung told Jungkook. He nodded.

With one more goodbye and a group hug, the maknaes got in the car and Jungkook started up the engine. Taehyung tried so hard to keep his tears in, but he couldn't help it. His brother was leaving. A vacation, more than anything, but he was still leaving. Suddenly, he wanted to call them back out and tell them to stay, but he needed to let them go. Just for a couple days, Taehyung told himself. We'll get dad over with, he'll turn back to normal, and everything will be fine.

The couple drove away, slowly, reluctant, but before the hyungs knew it, their car's back lights were a speck in the night. Hoseok patted the older brothers' backs as they sniffled softly.

"I'm gonna miss them."

B/c this chapter is very short, so I decided to publish it today. Also kinda-sorta compensates for not updating the past couple days LOL
